Greetings!

Member Voice: Hallie Delvillan, Bialosky Cleveland

To me, AIA is the difference between participating in the profession and leading in the profession. After serving on AIA Ohio's Strategic Council, I am more convinced than ever that the AIA and its vibrant chapters are bringing a fresh awareness about architecture to the public and an ambitious message about our profession to lawmakers. As a member, AIA has empowered and inspired me to have a voice about the future of our field.

Locally, AIA Cleveland has revealed just how dedicated, and excited, the architects, designers and planners of our city truly are. You see that in the energy when we all gather: at the happy hours, design lectures, award ceremonies, conferences, film screenings, sketch workshops, project tours... I continue to be humbled by the level of collegiality in our chapter. What uplifts me most are the success stories I hear from AIA Cleveland's Mentorship Program, and the Women in Architecture community,  which has formed new supporting circles for the emerging and experienced alike.

The Bridges of Cleveland in fused glass - A Gallery Opening

Friday July 22, 2016

As an artist I am constantly looking for new ways to express my ideas. During the summer of 2014 I took a trip on the Cuyahoga River on a friend's boat. I had a project in mind that had been stirring around in my head for over a year. To get started I took photographs of the many bridges along the river's banks. Working with my own images enables me to develop and express my artistic vision. Traveling on that winding, meandering body of water during a hot summer's day I was captivated by the unique and fascinating view of the many bridges in the city's underbelly. Many are vestiges of a bygone era spanning the Cuyahoga but still aiding commerce from the Port of Cleveland to ports around the globe. My fused glass images of these bridges express the gritty, industrial character of the city and capture them as symbols of commerce, which in some way represents a bygone era. Each image, altered in Photoshop is made into a negative and applied onto a silk screen. Fine shards of glass frits, dry powders are then screened onto a pre-fused glass substrate and fused in the kiln.

I currently exhibit in local Summer Art Festivals including Cain Park, Lakewood and Hudson, to name a few. I also offer Workshops and Classes from my Lakewood Screw Factory 13000 Athens Ave Suite C-287. Inquiries:
