Greetings!

Dear friends and fellow AIA Cleveland members,

We have a full calendar this year and many brand new initiatives and programs, one of which being "Professional Exchange Tuesdays" (PET). As a regular series, PET looks to be a free forum for design leaders with AIA memberships to engage and educate each other on topics related to practice. Jonathan Novak, AIA will lead the first session, titled "Design Leaders Forum: A Conversation on the Administration of Design", on Tuesday February 23rd at 6:00pm at the AIA Center of Architecture and Design. I encourage firm leaders to submit a topic, or opt to lead a specific discussion by reaching out to Chris Toddy, AIA at [email protected].

And even with all the exciting new programs in our chapter, we continue to have great core programs, like our Lunch & Learns, which run a steady schedule of the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the Month; the next one commencing on March 8th. And of course, our Happy Hours, which continue to warm our spirits even in the coldest days in Cleveland!

Best,

Jack Alan Bialosky, Jr. AIA LEED AP
President, AIA Cleveland

Design Leaders Forum
Tuesday February 23, 2016

The administration of design occupies a unique position in the specialization of the discipline. Although the question of aesthetics is critical for design leadership, design administration asks more about the processes and production of design in a firm environment. From software, hardware, design methodology and graphic communication, its goal is to be consistent and cost effective while capturing the 'lighting in a bottle' that is a great design. As part of the professional exchange of knowledge, the Design Leadership Forum creates a venue for those who are specialized in design leadership to discuss issues affecting their area of practice. The goal is a forum for lead designers to share experiences about administering their teams during the design process. Sharing experiences about design leadership will improve our collaboration with our team members and produce a better quality product for our clients.

Date: Tuesday, February 23
Time: 6:00pm

Professional Exchange Tuesdays
By-Members / For-Members / Current Topics by You

We are creating the "Professional Exchange Tuesdays" to empower the leaders within our membership, to facilitate the sharing of business structures and other education that would benefit us all, to provide an incubator for developing ideas, to better promote the value of our work, and to foster member collegiality. We are trying out a new recurrent forum for conversation and communication that will be member-driven.

In 2016, it will last as long as you request it. Step forward with your ideas, expertise, knowledge, hot issues, roundtables, or your suggestions for a committee.

Contact Chris Toddy at [email protected] / 440-239-9560 or contact our executive director to petition-for, schedule, and lead a Tuesday evening discussion.

AIA reserves the right not to accept all requests - petitions need to be a good, compelling idea that serve our professional community. Always FREE and only open only to members, professional affiliates and sponsors.
