Over the next 5 years these partnerships will develop traineeship programs to prepare social work students for public child welfare careers by

  1. Engaging in change initiatives focused on the specific needs of their jurisdiction's child welfare workforce;
  2. Providing student stipends;
  3. Developing curricular enhancements focused on trauma-informed and evidence-based child welfare practice; and,
  4. Developing strategies to support graduating students transition to work.
ADDITIONAL INTERVENTION ACTIVITIES IN 11 JURISDICTIONS

Recognizing that single interventions are not sufficient and that leadership at all levels is critical, NCWWI is now taking a more comprehensive and integrated approach to leadership and workforce development.

Leaders from the partner schools and agencies will also participate in the Leadership Academy for Deans and Directors (LADD), a leadership enrichment program that will create a learning community to advance the preparation and support of an expert, culturally responsive workforce that can effectively deliver high quality services.

UP jurisdictions will also have the opportunity to engage in a range of other NCWWI interventions, including:

  • Workforce Excellence (WE) InitiativesOrganizational Interventions (comprehensive assessment and design team activities to address workforce challenges and improve agency culture and climate) and the Leadership Academies for Middle Managers (LAMM) and Supervisors (LAS) will be delivered in up to three jurisdictions;
  • LAMM/LAS Collaborative Initiatives: NCWWI Leadership Academies for Middle Managers and Supervisors will be offered concurrently in up to five jurisdictions; and,
  • LAS Coordinated Initiatives: NCWWI will support up to six jurisdictions' strategic implementation of the LAS.

Please contact smunson@albany.edu if you have any questions.

We look forward to connecting with you in the months and years ahead.

Sincerely,

The NCWWI Team
