USPS names six finalists to design new delivery vehicle
The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has named six companies as finalists in a competition to design its delivery vehicle of the future. As part of the process, USPS will divide $37.4 million among the six companies, which together will produce about 50 prototypes for the next-generation delivery vehicle. Full story
Daimler: Electric delivery trucks, vans on the way for U.S.
Daimler plans to introduce two new electric commercial vehicles into the U.S. in the next few years, it announced at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover, Germany. Full story
EDI acquires $15 million financing for PHEVs, EVs
Efficient Drivetrains, Inc. (EDI) has closed initial funds in its Series C financing round toward funding the company's plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and electric vehicle (EV) solutions, and is forecasted to close in Q4 2016 at $15 million. The financing is designed to meet government and industry regulations to meet zero-emissions vehicle objectives. Full story
Cummins says RD reaching "commercial maturity"
The company recently announced that renewable diesel (RD) is now compatible with its Euro 6 engines, including the ISB6.7 and ISL G. This means RD could soon become more mainstream in the U.S. Cummins is nearing completion on a North American test program to evaluate the compatibility of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil RD with Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
