Phase 2 fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction delegated assembly
NTEA expects the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will release the Phase 2 final rule for medium- and heavy-duty truck fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction this summer. Read more.
DOE, DOT announce collaboration to advance smart transportation systems
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will collaborate to accelerate research, demonstration, and deployment of innovative transportation and alternative fuel technologies. Chicago Clean Cities fleets reduce petroleum use by 25 million gallons in 2015
In 2015, the Chicago Area Clean Cities Coalition member fleets saved more than 25 million gasoline-gallon equivalents of petroleum and 225,000 tons of greenhouse-gas emissions. Read more.
CARB certifies Westport's CNG transit van
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has certified Westport Innovations' compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered Westport WiNG Power System used in the Ford Transit cargo van and passenger wagon, and the F-150 truck for MY- 2016. Read more.
California zero-emissions project includes diesel plug-in hybrid trucks
New diesel technology will be part of a $23.6 million zero-emission transportation test program in California for emerging commercial vehicle technologies designed to reduce greenhouse gases, smog and petroleum usage in ports and rail yards along busy freight corridors. Read more.
EPA proposes modest renewable fuel increase for 2017
The EPA proposed slight increases to the amount of ethanol and biofuels that fuel producers must add to gasoline and diesel in 2017. Fuel producers would need to blend 18.8 billion gallons of renewable fuels in 2017. Read more.
Peapod adds hydraulic hybrids to its fleet
Peapod LLC added two gasoline-powered Workhorse walk-in delivery vans equipped with the Lightning Hybrids energy recovery system to its Midwest fleet of 130 vehicles this week; the latest alternative propulsion venture for the online grocery delivery company. Read more.
