UPS unveils updated hybrid electric fleet
UPS updated 125 hybrid electric delivery trucks to extend their range and improve fuel economy as part of the company's broader Rolling Laboratory approach. "A compact, quiet-running, two-cylinder engine replaces a prior four-cylinder engine to extend their range, improve performance and fuel efficiency," according to UPS. Read more.
Propane autogas Ford F-150 hits Northwest in coast-to-coast tour
The same Ford F-150 that broke records at this year's Work Truck Show as the fastest propane-autogas-converted vehicle is now making its way throughout the country. Read more.
XL Hybrids announces 25 million on-road customer miles
XL Hybrids Inc. announced 25 million road miles will have been collectively driven this month by globally recognized brands, municipalities and nonprofits using the XL3 Hybrid electric drive system in their service, delivery and passenger fleets. Read more.
New vehicle MPG drops in April
The average fuel economy for new vehicles sold in April fell 0.1 to 25.2 mpg from March levels. This decline likely reflects the increased market share of pickup trucks and SUVs. Read more.
U.S. energy-related carbon dioxide emissions in 2015 are 12 percent below their 2005 levels
After increasing in 2013 and in 2014, energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions fell in 2015. In 2015, U.S. energy-related carbon dioxide emissions were 12 percent below the 2005 levels, mostly because of changes in the electric power sector. Read more.
AFLEET Tool 2016 released
The Department of Energy's Clean Cities Program enlisted the expertise of Argonne National Laboratory to develop a tool to examine both the environmental and economic costs and benefits of alternative fuel and advanced vehicles. The Alternative Fuel Life-Cycle Environmental and Economic Transportation (AFLEET) Tool estimates petroleum use, greenhouse gas emissions, air-pollutant emissions, and cost of ownership of light- and heavy-duty vehicles using simple spreadsheet inputs.
