Telephone Directory 2017:  Please review your listing for accuracy in the SCOV online directory.  You are the Quality Control.  Remember that your email address is not included in the actual book.  For all new residents, you must complete an online form or a hard copy form from the Welcome Center to be included in the directory.  It does not happen automatically.  For those of you who are unlisted, please consider adding a contact phone number in case it is necessary for our POSSE to call you about an issue.  You can also see the latest new residents and updated resident information in the Members' Services telephone category.  As a separate note, please be sure that your Emergency Contact data is current. Contact Carolyn Lerch for directory changes. gclerch@comcast.net

What is a hedge and how tall may it be?  According to SCOV governing documents, a hedge is a fence or barrier formed by a line of closely spaced plants, shrubs, or trees and performing a similar function to a screen wall or fence.  No hedge located on any portion of a lot shall be permitted to be more than six feet (6') in height.  You might want to take a look at yours if you have one, and have it cut down in height, if it needs to be.

More SCAMS
The following information is kindly provided by Dana Reddington - local Banker.  An individual will receive a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft. The caller will claim to be in Florida or another state, but the phone call is coming from some place completely different. This caller will advise the need to take over the individual's computer to clear out viruses.  The caller will sound convincing giving names, address etc. and will also try to obtain account information, SSN etc.  There have been several individuals who fell prey to this scam and actually watched the culprit move money between accounts.  The caller will do this to make sure they have access to everything and will clean out the individual's account.  To date, four of these scams have been stopped.

The Recycle Aluminum Can Project wishes to thank all who recycle their aluminum cans.  Recently we have been advised by the scrap yard that they will take aluminum cat food cans, but request they be separated from the regular aluminum cans.  We will continue to get the same price for both, but if we do not separate them, there is a good chance we will be docked approximately $10 a load, if they are mixed together.   Out request to those who do recycle both types of cans, is to separate them into different bags prior to bringing them to our recycle bins.  If you are unable to do this, we would appreciate you not recycling any of the cat cans, as it is very difficult and time consuming for us as volunteers to separate them out of the bags as we receive them.  Your assistance in following this procedure is most appreciated.

Golf Carts and Traffic Laws - Once in a while, golf carts drive on the wrong side of the road against traffic.  Please remember that golf carts must obey the same rules as driving a car on the roads, even in SCOV.

Annual Mailing - You will be receiving the annual mailing and invoice by the end of next week.

Interesting tidbit: The Conceptual Design Review Board for the Town of Oro Valley will be holding two hearings on July 13th at 6 PM at the Town Council chambers, 11000 N. La Canada Dr.  The first hearing will be to discuss and possibly take action regarding two requests related to the Villages at Silverhawke residential subdivision.  The other hearing will discuss and take possible action on a proposed Conceptual site plan to develop a 45 lot single family detached residential subdivision located on Moore Road, approximately ¼ mile east of the Rancho Vistoso Blvd. and Moore Road intersection.

Did you know:  According to Community Association Institute 2015 statistics, Arizona has over 9,400 Homeowner Associations that serve over 1,891,000 people.

Getting to know the GM:  My wife and I raised our children in a small rural Idaho town.  It was one of those towns where if a stranger drove into town, the calling tree started and within minutes everyone in town knew a stranger was there and everyone watched out for all the town children.  When someone got lost in the mountains, all the businesses closed and townspeople and ranchers/farmers went to help find them.  I notice a lot of similarities between that little town and here.  People care for each other, watch out for each other and are concerned when someone is in a bind.  What a great place to live and work.
