Diamondbacks bus trip - Thursday, June 29, $50 pp.
We are off to see the Cardinals play the D-Backs. Enjoy a luxury bus trip. Great seats at the ballpark with concessions very near, or you can order from your seat. This is a fun day at Chase Field. The bus will leave at 9:15 AM for the 12:40 PM game, and the return bus will depart the stadium a half hour after the game ends. If you are new to SCOV this is a great way to see the D-Backs and not worry about weather since the stadium is air conditioned. Tickets will start on sale on Tuesday, May 30, at 8 AM at the Welcome Center. You must see Coco or Pam to purchase. If you have a group or a few people who want to sit together, you must purchase all your tickets at one time. Tickets are $50 pp, which includes tickets to the game and for the bus. Only 52 tickets will be sold. Get your tickets early.

If you plan to plant a tree and have not read the updated plant list, please note that Oaks, Mesquites and Palo Verdes are now prohibited. The reason is size and the fact they are very messy trees. It is a long-range attempt to protect our mountain views. African Sumac trees are prohibited by the town of Oro Valley. Our community has many of that variety.

Painting mail boxes is an ongoing thing. If you wash it and rinse it and then apply a coat of Armor All it will look brand new and the Armor All seems to have a lasting effect.

Interesting tidbit: Solar Project Update: As of the end of April, SCOV's 425-kilowatt solar project has been in operation for six months. During this time, it has provided over half of the electricity needs of all SCOV's common area facilities. The project has performed as expected and there have been no significant problems. In the first six months of operation, the solar project has produced 338,000 kilowatt-hours and saved SCOV over $2,600 in electric utility costs.

Did you know: I've noticed SCOV uses a BOGSAT on multiple levels to make decisions in committee meetings and other get-togethers. For those of you who don't know what a BOGSAT is, don't feel bad. It was taught to me by a great military statistician and introduced as a term used frequently in his sphere of work. The term BOGSAT is an acronym that stands for Bunch Of Guys Sitting Around A Table.

Getting to know the GM: When I was a teenager and thought I was all that and a bag of chips, I was taught a valuable lesson by my grandfather. He said, "Mark, if you ever think you're indispensable, just put your hand in a bucket of water and pull it out real fast. If your hand leaves a hole, you're indispensable." I've never forgotten that lesson and am reminded often (usually by my wife).
