Rainwater Harvesting program on March 27 is about living in Arizona. We pay attention to water supply and conservation through efficient use. So far so good, but there is more we can do. Rudy Poe from Tucson's Water Resource Management Group will explain this growing practice and how to reduce your home water bill and have all the irrigation water you need and the resources available to help. Please join us in the Auditorium at 1 PM for this informative practical session. Sponsored by the Government Affairs Committee.
The Modelers Club will be having another "Spring Break Open House" on Saturday, April 15 from 10 AM-3 PM, the day before Easter. As in our past open house programs, we will be operating locomotives in both steam and diesel. The train layout in the Modelers room has many new interesting additions, including a farming area with buildings and crops. A very detailed lumber mill has been constructed and is being installed. Finally a coal mining company is getting started. The Modelers Club will be looking forward to your visit, as we are very proud of what we have accomplished.

A big thank you to everyone in SCOV who supported or attended the 2017 Emerge into Spring event on March 18. SCOV Women's Auxiliary fashion show benefited EMERGE! Center Against Domestic Abuse. Early calculations show we should have raised at least $12,000 for Emerge!
Attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch, Stein Mart fashion show, and shopping at the raffle and silent auction. KOLD news (CBS) came out to see what we were doing and interviewed Jane Fairchild, current president of the SCOV Women's Auxiliary, about why we do this event year after year. Our story ran on the 5:30 PM news Sunday evening. Click here to read the article on the KOLD website.

Interesting tidbit: In the first 8 months of our fiscal year, the accounting department has received and accounted for over $6.2M in revenue from our various revenue centers (Annual Dues, Golf, the Restaurant, Administration, the Gift Shop, Activities, and Capital Contribution Fees). Additionally, we have processed an average of about 225 checks per month to vendors totaling about $360k per month in payments. All this by two Finance Department employees. They are not in the public eye much but do a good job for the community. Thanks to Randy Trenary and Angela Hong.
Getting to know the GM: Community Associations Institute (CAI) is the worldwide leader in accrediting Community Association managers. I was recently invited to be on their teaching faculty. I will be taking a couple of vacation days a year to teach a couple of classes to managers who are working toward higher accreditation. These classes will be in the United States, Canada, South Africa or Dubai. The number of faculty is very small, so it is an honor to be invited.
