*Davidson Elementary Christmas Gift Giving: Every year, the children of Davidson Elementary School go holiday "shopping" for their families. The school needs gifts (new items) for the children to shop. Pat Orchard and Carolyn Lerch are willing to receive any items by December 8 and get them to the school and are also looking for volunteers to help wrap the gifts after the children have purchased them. Gifts of any kind for all stages and ages, please. Wrapping paper, tape, gift bags with tissue paper are needed too. The gift selection by the kids and wrapping the gifts by adults is taking place from Monday, Dec. 12 through Friday, Dec 16. The time is 8:15-11:15 AM, but good to arrive by 8 AM to get organized. Thank you. (The one day that they REALLY need help wrapping gifts is Thursday, Dec 15, 8-11:30 AM. The major wrapping work is done and supported by The Lions but Thursday is the day they are not very available. So if anyone is available, we could perhaps do car pools.) Please contact Carolyn Lerch at 520-818-3319 for more information.

Seeking SCOV Trailblazers and 2nd Generation SCOV Homeowners. On February 15, 2017, the Marketing Committee is hosting a 30th Anniversary celebration for the community. We will be honoring the "Trailblazers" who moved into the first homes in Sun City 30 years ago. If you are one of the original SCOV homeowners (1987 to mid-1988), we are trying to locate you to send you a personal invitation to the celebration. Today, many homeowners are 2nd Generation, i.e. children of the original "Trailblazers". We would also like to know who you are and encourage you to attend the celebration and share your stories about why you love living in SCOV. Please contact Joy Huxtable at joyeh1115@gmail.com or call 520-548-2653, if you are a Trailblazer, or know how to contact them. In addition, if you are directly related to a Trailblazer, please also contact Joy.
Election Preparations: As you are aware we will be offering an electronic voting option for our election in March. To prepare to receive the electronic ballot, please do the following:
- Create contact - If you haven't already done so, please create a contact in your email program with the name of SCOV Elections and the email address of elections@vote-now.com. This will allow your email program to recognize the sender of our election ballot.
- Send test email - Also, please send a test email to elections@vote-now.com with the subject TEST. (There will be no reply to the test email, but your email program may see a sent message as an indication that this is a good address to receive from as well.)
Note - On January 9 a verification email will be sent from elections@vote-now.com to prepare for the election in March 2017. We'll send you an email to remind you that it's coming.
The Board invites you: The Board of Directors wants to invite you to each and every Study Session and Board Meeting. Your thoughts and input are important and one of the best ways to be heard is by attending these monthly meetings. In addition, to this invitation the Board would like you to stop by the meetings 15 minutes before the meetings begin so you and the Board Members can have an opportunity for a casual conversation. This pre-meeting period will give you an opportunity to have one-on-one time with Board Members so you can either talk about light social issues or an Association related issue that may be very important to you. The next Board Meeting will be held Thursday, December 8 at 9 AM. in the Welcome Center, Conference Room 3. Please stop by a little early. Time dedicated to you for architectural changes: There have been questions about why the Community Service Coordinator's (CSC) office is open for architectural changes from 9-11 AM. This time is reserved for our residents to come in and meet with Katy Mosier to discuss what's needed to get their project off the ground and compliant with governing documents. The employees in the front office can answer some, but not all, of the home improvement questions, and you may be asked to return during the 9-11 AM time frame. When the CSC's office is not open, the CSC is busy processing home sales (11 so far in November), and homes going into escrow, which involves working with the realtors and title companies, as well as the Architectural Compliance Team for home inspections (there are 10 to date in November). Violation letters are also processed through this office (there were around 400 in November); with 400 letters written you can imagine how many phone calls are received with questions about the violations. This provides a little insight as to what happens when the office isn't open. Please plan to bring your requests to the CSC's office from 9-11 AM, Monday-Friday and please be considerate to our employees out front when this time frame is brought to your attention. If you forget the times, they are published in the Tipster monthly on page 2 under Community Services. ARC Members will be available to answer your questions: Members of the Architectural Review Committee will be available on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays in December and if there is a need, we will be available on the same days in January. The purpose will be to help residents understand the Development Standards and how they apply to submittals for improvements to their property. These standards are also what govern how Neighborhood Pride surveys the community. We will be in the Kachina Lounge from 9:15 AM to noon. Stop by with questions, help with a submittal or whatever info you wish as they relate to ARC. Keep an eye on your mailboxes, especially this time of the year. There is an element out there looking to steal valuables. A recent report was received from SCOV residents that items were taken from their mailbox. and reports of people following delivery drivers and stealing items that are delivered to front doors. If everyone keeps their eyes out for themselves and their neighbors and calls 911 regarding suspicious activities, these kinds of illicit activities can be greatly reduced.
