SCOV Golf Cart Parade: Have you turned in your entry form to participate in our golf cart parade? The information regarding the parade route and the entry form was in the November Tipster. If you need a form to enter, we have extras at the Welcome Center front desk area. Decorate as an individual or as a club or group; just be part of the fun. The judging will be done by the OVPD and town officials. Cash prizes are: 1st place $100.00, 2nd place $75.00 and 3rd place $50.00. All entry forms must be turned in at the Welcome Center by December 2. Join the fun by entering or watching the parade.

Rent Your Home? Please note:
  • Your Facility Access Cards (Membership cards) are non-transferable and may only be used by you. You may not give your renters your cards.
  • Before any cards are issued to renters, we MUST have your Facility Access Cards on file in the office AND your HOA dues must be up to date.
  • A renter form must be completed by you and returned by your renter(s) when they come in to receive their cards. You will find the form online.
  • There is a $25 renter registration fee (for up to two cards).
  • Please note the front office will not keep on file any future rental agreements. It is the responsibility of the renter to submit all paperwork upon arrival to SCOV.
Online Bulletin Board: Do you have items to sell or want to buy? Have you checked out our online bulletin board? Go to suncityorovalley.com>News & Info>Bulletin Board. New items to sell or buy are added on a regular basis.

Consumer Referral Vendor List: If you are looking for suggestions for a service provider from airport shuttle service to plumber to window installer, check out the Consumer Referral Vendor List. There is a printed directory at the Activity Center Monitor desk (located across from the auditorium) or look online

SCOV honored as a Green Workplace: Congratulations to SCOV for receiving the 2nd runner up for America's Greenest Workplace.

The Modelers Club will have an Open House for Thanksgiving. The dates are Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26, 10 AM-Noon, and 1-3 PM. We will be running trains on our expanded HO railroad layout. We have added more lighted buildings and track. Last year was very successful and we look forward to another big turnout of visitors.

Hot dogs at the bar: For golfers at the turn or anyone who wants a quick bite, there's a hot dog machine at the restaurant bar where you can get quick service. Take advantage of this when you have little time to spend on ordering and want something on the fly. If demand doesn't warrant the hot dog machine, it may go away, so keep this quick way of getting a bite in mind.

Home Tour: The highly-anticipated biennial Friends of the Library Home Tour will be held on Saturday, February 18. If you have renovated your home within the last two years and would like to be part of our own little "Street of Dreams," please submit an application online. Call or email Marge Allen, 520-825-3095, margbill7@gmail.com with questions.

Time dedicated to you for architectural changes: There have been questions about why the Community Service Coordinator's (CSC) office is open for architectural changes from 9-11 AM. This time is reserved for our residents to come in and meet with Katy Mosier to discuss what's needed to get their project off the ground and compliant with governing documents. The employees in the front office can answer some, but not all, of the home improvement questions, and you may be asked to return during the 9-11 AM time frame. When the CSC's office is not open, the CSC is busy processing home sales (11 so far in November) and homes going into escrow, which involves working with the realtors and title companies, as well as the Architectural Compliance Team for home inspections (there are 10 to date in November). Violation letters are also processed through this office (there were around 400 in November); with 400 letters written, you can imagine how many phone calls are received with questions about the violations. This provides a little insight as to what happens when the office isn't open. Please plan to bring your requests to the CSC's office from 9-11 AM, Monday-Friday and please be considerate to our employees out front when this time frame is brought to your attention. If you forget the times, they are published in the Tipster monthly on page 2 under Community Services.

Gift Shop's Holiday Open House: The Gift Shop Open House will be held this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday November 25-27, 9 AM-4:30 PM on Friday and Saturday, Sunday 9 AM-12:30 PM. The Gift Shop is decorated for the holidays, there will be cookies and our annual holiday raffle. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. We have a special Holiday Open House window at the Gift Shop containing the raffle items. Two winning tickets will be drawn, and the winners will receive the contents of half of the window. The drawing will be Sunday and the winner will be notified by phone.

Our aluminum can recycle program needs help. Men and women are needed to spend about 20-30 minutes one day a week to sort cans at our main collection area behind the Activity Center kitchen. Over the last ten years, the recycling program has provided over $37,400 to support our Loan Room, along with other activities in SCOV. Please volunteer if you are able to help us. Call Dave Johnson at 825-6994.

A special message from your SCOV neighbor: My mom and dad have lived in Sun City for 24 years. They had a special rock under a light in our front yard. Our plan has been to use the rock as a head stone for my parents. However, someone last Saturday night around 8:30 PM or so, chipped away at the rock taking more than half of it away with them. This large rock has very special meaning to our family so we ask that you please return it so the headstone can be made. Thank you, the Jumelet Family.
