Therefore, if you have to get to the Oro Valley Hospital, you'll have to take a different route other than Innovation.

If you rent your home....
  • Your Facility Access Cards (Membership cards) are non-transferable and may only be used by you. You may not give your renters your cards.
  • Before any Cards are issued to renters, we MUST have your Facility Access Cards on file in the office AND your HOA dues must be up to date.
  • A renter form must be completed by you and returned by your renter(s) when they come in to receive their cards.
    • You will find the form on the Sun City Oro Valley website:  Members>Member Services>Rent Your Home
    • There is a $25 renter registration fee (for up to two cards) which is good for the length of the lease
Please be advised the front office will not hold any future rental agreements. It is the responsibility of the renter to submit all paperwork upon arrival to SCOV.

Dog leashes and barking: Residents who walk their dogs are reminded of the Town of Oro Valley code that requires that the dog be on a leash not more than six feet long (no retractable leashes) with a person on the other end. Town code also requires that solid waste deposited on public property, i.e., street right of ways, common areas, etc., be immediately removed and that the person in control of the dog shall not allow solid waste to be deposited on private property without the consent of a person in control of that property. If solid waste is deposited on private property, it must be removed immediately also. As a matter of common courtesy in SCOV, a dog should not be allowed to relieve themselves on private property, i.e,. the yard of another resident, regardless of what the town code says on the subject.
Excessive barking is occasionally a problem as well. Dog owners who leave their dog in their yard or house when they leave the house should be aware of their dog's behavior when they are gone. Under some circumstances, dogs may bark excessively when their owners are away. This behavior may be unknown to the dog's owner, but it definitely isn't unknown to neighbors. This is a problem that owners and neighbors should be able to easily solve. Residents who wish to walk their dogs on the golf course should consult SCOV Board Policy GLF-003 Rev-002 for the rules that apply to that activity.

SCOV DEMOCRAT CLUB: When we meet the election will be over, and one way or another history will have been made. Come join your fellow Democrats for an open mic meeting. Each person who wishes to speak will be given three minutes. Laura Dore, Chair of the Nominating Committee, will present the slate that she and her committee have compiled. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor. Saturday, November 12, 1 PM, Activity Center/Navajo Room.

Vistoso Computer Society: Monday, November 14, 1 PM, Activity Center/Auditorium. Garry Buck will present Old Fashioned Computers and Laptops. Smartphones and tablets are rapidly supplanting computers and laptops. Both MAC and PC users should find this topic interesting. The meeting is open to all Sun City residents.

SCOV Women's Auxiliary Fall Boutique and Luncheon: A big thank you to all who contributed to the success of the SCOV Women's Auxiliary Fall Luncheon and Accessories Boutique held on Saturday, Nov. 5. You purchased tickets to the event, donated boutique items, donated money and shopped in the Boutique. You raised $6,500 that will be donated to the Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse organization.

ILR Sampler: Hsinchun Chen, Ph.D., is a Regent's Professor at the University of Arizona, where he founded their highly successful Artificial Intelligence lab. He will present an ILR Samplers program on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 2 PM in Catalina Vista. All SCOV residents are welcome; there is no fee.

Dr. Chen will discuss the COPLINK program he developed (since sold to IBM), arguably the most sophisticated and advanced software program to share and analyze crime data. It was crucial in solving the Beltway sniper case (17 people killed) in 2002, for example, and now is used by law enforcement across the country. In addition, he will report on his DARKWEB program for tracking international terrorists through social media and his most recent study of the international hacker community to identify emerging threats, malware, and stolen data.

In a different area, Professor Chen will also discuss his DIABETICLINK program which helps predict diabetes risks and patient support. Finally, he will present his SILVERLINK program for health monitoring and risk assessment for seniors aging at home. Questions will be welcome.

NOTE: Because of the recent reports of possible Russian cyberattacks on the U.S. and the safety of emails, this program is likely to appeal to a large audience. The Fire Marshall limits attendance to 180 in Catalina Vista, so please plan ahead.
