REAL ESTATE OPERATION:
As you may be aware, the Board has implemented a committee to gather data regarding the possible establishment of a real estate operation. This committee has not met yet but plans to meet soon and report their findings to the Board later this year. If the Board finds that the data gathered by the committee merits further consideration, the information will be brought to the membership for discussion. If interest continues, the concept of a SCOV real estate operation will be voted on by the membership next year when the Board election takes place. It's important to note that any real estate operation that may or could be approved by the membership will be a firm just like any other real estate firm and will have to compete with all other real estate firms in order to comply with the law.
In the meantime there is a petition circulating to oppose an SCOV real estate operation. Through the grapevine, I have heard that more than one individual who is circulating this petition are making false statements about me.
What was conveyed to me is that there are secret discussions occurring in regard to a real estate operation and that I and/or my wife will be the manager or designated broker for the operation. The message I received also indicated that I had started the same kind of thing when I managed Sun Lakes C.C. in the Phoenix area.
In regard to secret meetings regarding this matter, I can tell you that if there are secret meetings taking place, I have not been invited and I have not attended these supposed meetings. In regard to any potential real estate operation involvement on my part at SCOV, I can tell you that when the proposed operation was brought to my attention by a Board Member (not the Board) and I was asked for my thoughts, I initially had some interest in being involved. However, after serious consideration, I quickly came to the conclusion that I have no interest in being involved in any SCOV real estate operation that may be implemented now or in the future. However, I have been a licensed Arizona real estate broker for ten years and am seriously considering joining one of the local real estate firms when I leave SCOV. Simply put, I am not involved in secret meetings and won't be the manager or designated broker for any possible SCOV real estate operation. Further, my wife has never had nor will she ever have any interest in being a part of any SCOV real estate operation.
In regard to the real estate operation at Sun Lakes, I clearly did not initiate that operation. The real estate office owned by Sun Lakes C.C. had been in operation for decades before I became manager there in 2006. One stipulation included in the offer for the GM position with Sun Lakes C.C. was that I was required to become the designated broker for the Sun Lakes C.C. real estate firm. Therefore, my participation in the Sun Lakes real estate operation was not my idea but part of the general manager's job responsibilities at that time.

Thursday, September 22 - Tubac Bus trip:
Tubac was established in 1752 as a Spanish presidio. Today, artists are a more likely a sight in this town than a military garrison would be. You can go to the internet and look up Tubac and you will find there is a lot to see and do. Some 80 unique shops and galleries populate the village. There are also wonderful restaurants to have lunch. Why drive when you can enjoy the ride on a luxury bus. The bus will leave from behind the Welcome Center at 9:30am and depart Tubac at 3pm. Tickets on sale at the Welcome Center, See Coco or Pam. Get your ticket early, $24 pp.
