Projects update:
  • Restaurant: The entire Views Restaurant is in operation under a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy. There are three or four code related items that need to be completed and once that is done, the Town will inspect and give us a permanent Certificate of Occupancy. It should also be noted that not all of the furniture has arrived yet so, for example, folding chairs are being used in the dining area at this time. Also, no artwork has been installed yet.
  • Solar: Work continues in the parking lots by the restaurant and between the maintenance building and Welcome Center. Although this work restricts parking, there have been little, if any, issues with sufficient parking to date.
  • Catalina Vista: Updating, audio visual and various replacement work will begin in a few weeks. More information will be available as the project date becomes closer.

  • We are so pleased to announce that the lounge, terrace, and now dining room are open and ready to serve you.
  • Happy Hour this Friday, August 12, from 4 - 7 PM with live entertainment by Blues Hall of Famers, Grams & Kreiger.
  • Special happy hour coming on Friday, August 19 in recognition of National Aviation Day. The theme will be "Time Flies." Enjoy live jazz from Duo Vibrato. We will be serving an Airline Chicken Dinner with all the fixings for $10/plate. Vegetarian and gluten-free options available. Also available will be $6 appetizers and $4 layover cocktails.

Get your new stickers: If you paid your 2016-2017 dues, please come to the Administration building to pick up your 2016-2017 sticker that goes on your facilities access card. Please advise if you have a golf cart, and you will be given 2016-2017 stickers for your cart. Thank you.
 
FULL TIME COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR WANTED   Main responsibility is preparation of our monthly newsletter magazine. Other responsibilities include ad design & timeline management. Must have some knowledge of publishing, copy writing and photography skills helpful. Ability to work in a non-linear manner, managing multiple projects at once. Must be conscientious of deadlines and a self-starter regarding work scheduling. Must be able to work under stress and communicate pleasantly and effectively. Type 50 WPM, proficient with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Excel and WordPress. Consumer Referral Vendor List:  If you are looking for suggestions for a service provider from Airport Shuttle service to Window/Glass installer...check out the Consumer Referral Vendor List. There is a directory at the Activity Center Monitor desk (located across from the auditorium) or go online here. Please note in the past there was a phone number to call for this information, but that service is no longer available.

Restaurant staff compensation and donation deadline: In addition to the donations that are being gathered for the restaurant staff, the Board of Directors voted to approve authorizing the general manager to provide the restaurant staff with reasonable compensation for the time they missed working during the restaurant closure. For those of you who plan to donate, please do so before the restaurant closes this coming Sunday. After Sunday, the donations along with compensation approved by the Board will be as fairly as possible distributed to the restaurant staff.

SCOV Library: The Library is celebrating the one year anniversary of computerization with a terrific sale. Books, large print books, audio books, videos, and music CDs are on sale for three for the price of one. Paperbacks are 25 cents each. New items put out daily while supplies last.

The Democrat Club will meet on Saturday August 13 at 1:00 in the Navajo Room of the Activity Center. Enjoy the company of other Sun City Dems as we fold, stuff, stamp and address envelopes for local Democratic Candidates. Cold refreshments will be provided.
