Board/GM Coffee Clarification - The correct time for the Tuesday, August 10 coffee is 9 AM. It will be in the Activity Center/Navajo.
Library News -
The Library is celebrating the one year anniversary of computerization with a terrific sale. Books, large print books, audio books, videos and music CDs are on sale for three for the price of one. Paperbacks are 25 cents each. New items put out daily while supplies last. 
 
Lounge Phone Issue -
The hardware serving the phone at the lounge is not working properly. You can still dial in, but it sometimes rings only once and if someone isn't right there the call may be missed. If you experience this issue, you may dial the restaurant phone 825-3277. We expect this to be resolved early next week.

Safety Alert -There was a break in to a vehicle on campus where valuables were stolen. This was only one incident that we're aware of, but as a precaution take your valuables with you into the facilities.

Full Time Communications Coordinator Wanted. Must be able to work under stress and communicate pleasantly and effectively. Type 50 WPM, proficient with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPress. Must have a strong background in publishing with copywriting and photography skills. Ability to work in a non-linear manner, managing multiple projects at once. Must be conscientious of deadlines and a self-starter regarding work scheduling. Job responsibilities include preparation of monthly Tipster newsletter and ad design & timeline management. The office of the Community Services Coordinator will be closed on Monday, August 8. Submittals for the ARC Meeting on August 23 will be due on Tuesday, August 16 at 11 AM.

If you paid your 2016-2017 dues, please come to the Administration building to pick up your 2016-2017 sticker that goes on your facilities access card. Please advise us if you have a golf cart, and you will be given 2016-2017 stickers for your cart.

Become a Website Member: Our new website has been operational for almost a year, and we hope you find it useful. If you are a SCOV resident and have not registered to be a member of the website, we highly encourage you to do so as this will allow you access to information that is for SCOV residents only including, but not limited to, the online community directory, the consumer referral vendor list, the minutes and agenda from the Board, the monthly financial report, etc. To register, please follow the steps below. Order of Clubs in the Tipster to change: Over the years the Tipster Editorial Committee has heard legitimate criticisms from readers who have asserted that it is often difficult to find specific club articles in the Tipster. We are going to change the order of clubs to match that used on SCOV website. This would provide a consistency between the website list of SCOV clubs and the way they are displayed in the Tipster. Direct comments and questions to Chair Lou Phillippi, 638-6957. Below is the list of the order of clubs as it will appear beginning with the September edition.  Project Updates
  1. Restaurant
    - The punch list has been generated and the final details are being addressed. A special notice will be sent out when the restaurant is planned to open. in the meantime enjoy dining in the lounge or on the patio.
     
  2. Solar - The module mounting crew off for a week or so to finish up a shade canopy on a school campus before school starts up again. Trenching continues in the lower parking lot.  When that work is completed, they will move to the northern parking lot and do what they can there.  This work is also weather influenced. The steel guys plan on drilling for the next structure in the lower lot tomorrow, weather permitting.  The spaces under the new steel will be 90% open. Staff is parking in another lot to free up space for residents.
The Views Restaurant
Restaurant Phone Numbers: There are two phone numbers for the restaurant and lounge. The restaurant will remain 825-3277 and is currently forwarded to the lounge until the dining room opens. The lounge has a direct line at 917-8085.

Friday, August 5, 4-7 PM, Restaurant - Happy Hour with live entertainment by Ivan Denis.
Friday, August 19 - Special Happy Hour in recognition of National Aviation Day. The theme will be "Time Flies." Enjoy live jazz from Duo Vibrato. We will be serving an Airline Chicken Dinner with all the fixings for $10/plate. Vegetarian and gluten-free options available. Also available will be $6 appetizers and $4 layover cocktails.
Staring September 8 the Coloring Book Group will be moved to the Catalina Vista.  Thursdays is the new day and the new time will be 2:30 to 4:30.  Many have enjoyed getting together and as our winter residents return, I am sure more will join this group.
