This Week in SCOV

Projects update:

Restaurant/Lounge: Best case scenario, the Lounge will open early next week. The initial plan this week was to float the concrete walkway outside of where the folding glass door is located that leads from the lounge to the terrace. This was required so there would be no more than a ¼ inch in height difference between the concrete and the bottom rail that the door slides on, which is an ADA requirement. This was accomplished. The folding door and window that are between the lounge and terrace were also planned to be installed on Monday and Tuesday. However, this installation started on Tuesday and the installers are still working on the installation with a projection to complete the installation tomorrow. Another issue that holds up opening the lounge now is the solar work in the parking lot and around the area that used to be a trash bin. This work prevents use of the handicap parking spaces. With that stated, the solar installers indicated that access to the handicap parking spots will be available before early next week. One other measure that needs to be taken care of but is not holding up opening the lounge is the concrete stairs that lead from the cart parking lot to the terrace/lounge area do not meet ADA requirements and must be removed and rebuilt.

Solar: As noted above, work continues in the parking lot by the restaurant. Structures to hold the solar panels are also being installed in the large parking lot between the Welcome Center and the Pro Shop. The bottom line is there is considerable construction taking place in the parking areas around the restaurant and behind the Welcome Center, yet there is still plenty of parking space available. Work also took place in the golf maintenance building and Desert Oasis. Without going into detail, power was shut down for a few hours in both buildings so that connections could be made for the new solar systems.

Painting: Painting on the golf maintenance building was just completed. The next building to be painted is the Craft Complex.
