This Week in SCOV

7/14/16
NEWS FROM THE VIEWS RESTAURANT:
  • Progress is moving along with the interior of the lounge and the dining area. However, sometimes even the best laid plans do not go as we wish. Issues continue with the concrete work on the north side of the lounge and with the concrete sub-contractor properly completing this work. Until these issues are corrected by the current sub-contractor or another concrete contractor, the lounge will not be opened. Every step is being taken to stay proactive on this project in order to open it for business. PLEASE CONTINUE TO WATCH OUR WEBSITE, SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES AND YOUR EMAILS for the latest developments. Thank you.
  • Coffee and bear claws will continue to be available at the Pro Shop starting at 6 am. Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs with chips, cookies, cold non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase at the tent outside the Pro Shop 10:30 AM-2 PM.
NEWS FROM THE VIEWS GOLF CLUB:

Facility Access Cards: It was previously noticed that access cards will be deactivated July 10th for Members who have not paid the 2016/17 annual dues. However, that action has been delayed so a little additional time can be given to the few members who have not yet paid the annual dues. Deactivation will begin early next week. If your card is deactivated, your dues will have to be paid before your card is reactivated.

The purpose of this page is for SCOV residents to help communicate SCOV and surrounding area (OV, Tucson) news articles, happenings, events, etc., in a timely fashion to other SCOV residents. Also, a few funnies about retirement, growing older, etc., are posted just for fun.

Telephone Directory 2016: There have been several additions and updates to the database and it is time for you to check my work, please. The online directory was posted on Monday so use that to check your information. If you see errors with any of the first 44 pages, please let me know via email. Some of you have information you do not want in the actual book, and I have that specifically marked. If new residents want to be included in the book please give me your information no later than August 1. There is a New Residents- Change of Information form online in conjunction with the website directory. Carolyn Lerch

Projects update:
  • AFC pool deck: As you may know, there was more work to be completed under warranty than anticipated by the contractor. As a result, the AFC pool had to be closed a couple of extra days and is scheduled to open tomorrow, Friday, July 15th.
  • Restaurant: As noted above, issues with the concrete and concrete sub-contractor have delayed opening of the lounge. We will keep you apprised of any progress made and apologize the inconvenience.
  • Solar: Although solar work is taking place in several areas, the only area that is impacting residents at this time is around the restaurant and the parking lot between the restaurant and tennis courts. According to the solar contractors, this parking lot will be closed or partially closed until at least early August.
  • Desert Oasis pool sanitation system:
A new water sanitation system developed by Clear Comfort was installed for the Desert Oasis pool last week. This system was installed for two primary reasons. First, it should provide healthier swimming water due to the considerable reduction in pool chemicals that will be required to sanitize the pool. Along with healthier water, the water should also feel softer. Second, the system should result in long-term savings as it requires little or no maintenance and the reduction in chemical use will in turn reduce chemical costs.
Coloring Book Group:
Don't forget about our coloring book group that meets every Wednesday at 2pm at the Desert Oasis. People have loved this since it is fun and relaxing. The size of the class varies each week. So bring your coloring books and colored pencils and have a great time.
