SCOV Telephone Directory - Two things: 1) Please help regarding any exceptions, corrections, or additions to information included in our directory e.g. resident information, telephone numbers of churches or businesses.  I don't have any control over the Business White and Yellow pages but I can at least inform the necessary people.  2)  For the month of May 2016, the update to the website and posse list will be delayed about 2 weeks so I can incorporate as much as possible before I leave on vacation on May 27.  No updates in June.  Thanks, Carolyn Lerch gclerch@comcast.net

Electronic Voting - The Election Committee is exploring the possibility of adding an electronic option for voting on Association matters.  They are in the preliminary stage of benchmarking what other communities are doing, what options are available to them and feasibility for SCOV.  Be looking for additional information and a request for input in the near future.

This & That

According to one of our residents...who needed a new water heater in his SCOV home.  He did not know it required a permit from the Town of Oro Valley.  He did not know that it needed to be inspected by the Town after installation.  It may hold up the sale of a home if he decides to sell and has not had the proper inspections or a permit.  He also thinks it could jeopardize getting home owners insurance on the property. He said the permit required was a SFR Gas Water Heater Replacement Permit, $23.50 purchased at the Town center off La Canada just south of Naranja Drive.  He also said some of the hoses must be replaced at the same time a new water heater is installed.  Christopher felt he needed to pass this along to residents here to get the word out about how to proceed. His plumber who installed the water heater did not inform him of this.  Nor did they replace a hose that clearly states on a tag attached that if a new heater is installed that hose must be replaced also. They were called back to his property to take care of that issue. Many homes will need a new water heater either now or in the near future.  For information on requirements by the Town of Oro Valley please contact the Town at 229-4800. (This note is being shared at the request of a concerned resident as the Association does not govern the interior of our homes.)

Wildlife Crossing Update - The CAC contributed funds to the Coalition for Protection of the Sonoran Desert to help with the purchase of cameras to document wildlife.  The following comes from the Coalition and the Arizona Game and Fish Department:  Tucson - Last fall, a desert tortoise interrupted construction workers to use the new wildlife underpass on north Oracle Road in Pima County, before it was even completed. The Arizona Game and Fish Department installed video and still cameras on the crossings in early April, and, within days, mule deer, coyote, and javelina were filmed using the wildlife bridge and underpass to cross Oracle Road safely. As wildlife uses these new connections, drivers will be less likely to cross paths with wildlife and avoid possible collisions. Click here to see the first video of deer crossing the bridge.  Now is your chance to walk on it, at the celebration of completion on May 10th at 9am.  Please meet at the Santa Catalina Catholic Church lower parking lot, which is adjacent to the bridge. This is a huge milestone for Southern Arizona. Animals have been photographed crossing the bridge at night. The event is sponsored by the Coalition for the Sonoran Desert Protection.
