Road Work:
If any residents have questions about the scheduled maintenance activities please call Shawn Ricksecker at 229-4897 or email sricksecker@orovalleyaz.gov. Street Superintendent Operations Division Development & Infrastructure Services Department Town of Oro Valley

Catalina Mountain Sign: A duplicate of this panoramic sign has been installed at ground level near the entrance to the Activity Center. This sign identifies the Catalina mountain peaks, ridges and canyons along with other interesting information. This location was chosen to make it accessible specifically for those people who are not able to climb the 53 steps up the Clock Tower where the original sign is located; and where the most people will observe it, knowing that there is only a partial view of the Catalinas.

Tennis courts and pickleball courts temporary closure:
It's time to re-surface the Mountain Vista tennis courts and the two older pickleball courts. As a result, the tennis courts will be closed from May 2nd through May 11th and the two pickleball courts will be closed from May 12th through May 15th. The three newer pickleball courts will be open for play during this time. Also, the Desert Oasis Courts will have Open Play from May 2nd through May 11th from 6 a.m. to noon and reserved time after noon.

Gift shop Monday Madness:
Monday, May 9, will be the gift shops last Monday madness of the season from 9-12:30.

Trash rates:
Please note that the notice below is from the Civic Association, not SCOV.

That information is not meant to be a positive or negative, just a disclosure.
Also, please keep in mind that none of the rates quoted by the Civic Association
or SCOV are contracted rates. The rates that have been included in past reports
and in this report may be changed at any time. As of this time, none of the refuse companies have agreed to a contracted rate unless all residents of SCOV are bound to use the same company.

The Civic Association has been conducting e-mail (cascvi@comcast.net) dialogs with SCOV residents concerning trash removal costs and the available trash removal services. The consensus is Waste Management's fees are high and not even uniform for residents.
It was reported Republic was charging $45.+ for 3 months and Waste Management would meet that price i.e $60.+ for 4 months. It is doubtful WM will do this automatically and you will have to call and request the adjustment in rate. When you do so, request an adjustment at least back to January 2016. This will produce a credit toward your May and future bills. Do not change services in the middle of a billing period. Waste Management will not return your previous billing amount. However, I would call and ask right out about a cash refund.
The common suggestion is to use up the refund at WM at the new adjusted rate, then switch services.
For people who do their own gardening and have more yard waste, Republic will pick up twice a week for $52.27 per three months ($17.42 per month). Change back to once a week when you want.
RightAway Disposal is offering 3 months service for $41.00.

The Civic Association is currently negotiating for the best possible rate for SCOV residents. If you want to keep abreast of further developments, sign up at
cascvi@comcast.net. Please include your Name, Address and Phone number for verification as only residents may subscribe. We accept only one e-mail address per residence.
