This Week in SCOV

4/14/16

Best in the Northwest: The restaurant portion of the Best in the Northwest Explorer awards was included some errors. As it turns out, the first place award for the Best Restaurant in Oro Valley was not included in last week's publication and it is The Views Restaurant. This means that The Views Golf Club got the best golf club and The Views Restaurant was also a top winner in addition to a second place finish for family friendly restaurant and third place finish for fine dining. Thanks to all who voted for The Views!!

MOVIE NIGHT POLL - We're getting excited for our first Movie Night at the Driving Range on Sunday, April 17 showing The Intern featuring Anne Hathaway and Robert DeNiro. The movie will start around 7:15 p.m.  We'll start letting golf cars park at 6:45 p.m.  We'll direct you to the parking spots.  Since there is limited golf car parking, please consider driving and parking in the restaurant parking lot and bringing a chair or blanket.  There will be free popcorn (first come, first serve and when it's gone it's gone).  Please provide an idea of how many are coming and how you will be enjoying the movie by clicking here.

Community Forum - Revised CC&Rs & Bylaws:  In June, you will be asked to vote on the revised CC&Rs and Bylaws. Be an informed voter and please plan to attend this Community Forum where the proposed documents will be discussed. Come learn more on Friday, April 22 at 10 AM in the Auditorium. If you would like to view the documents prior to this forum, you can stop by the Administration Center or click here.  (*You must be logged in to the SCOV website first in order to read these documents.)

2016-17 Homeowners' Dues: The Administration has been receiving inquiries about what the dues will be next year and if they can be paid now. In response to those inquiries, please note that the 2016-17 Budget will not be approved until April 26th at the April Board Meeting. Once the Budget is approved, the dues will be established and payment may be made.

NEWS FROM THE VIEWS RESTAURANT:
Coming Events:
Weekend food service: There has been some confusion about whether or not guests can order from the menu or enjoy a buffet. Due to various challenges, the kitchen is not able to provide both the buffet and orders off the menu and the buffet cannot accommodate various patrons, such as golf groups, the restaurant will offer menu service only. On special occasions such as Mother's Day, buffets will generally be offered.

Wine Wednesdays on April 27.Theme:  Food & Wines of Australia. $34.99 (with wine) and $29.99 (without wine). Limited seating. Call for reservations - 520-825-3277.

It has been brought to our attention that carts have been driving around the side of the tee box on # 17. This is not a cut through for golfers; it is for employee use only. Thank you.

Projects: Both the restaurant and solar projects are coming along as expected. The restaurant project is on time and if it continues that way, we can expect a completed project in July. Installation of the solar system is still expected to begin late this month or more likely early in May.

Consumer Referral Desk changes: The consumer referral desk now has an easy to use book with a list of all of our preferred vendors which is at the welcome desk in the Activity Center accessible all hours that the Center is open.
The ads will be handled with the same system, two people are in charge of those ads and attend to them every other day. The consumer referral desk will no longer have volunteers there. If anyone has problems or concerns they can call or email Claudia Case at: 520-279-8950 ccasescov@gmail.com

Community Telephone Directory:  The online website directory update is as of 4-7-16.  Everyone please check your information to be sure it is correct.  There is also a separate monthly update for new additions and any changes.  Please check that also.  For small changes please just email me.  For those who are unlisted, please consider giving me your phone number to be part of the Posse's directory.  I maintain that info as unlisted for the actual book and website but the posse folks have it for emergency reference. Carolyn Lerch (gclerch@comcast.net) Thanks!!

Aqua Hawk presentation given by Oro Valley Water Utility: This is an excellent device that can identify where you have a water leak, which can save time and money. Please plan on attending this presentation which will be held on 4/22/16 Navajo Rm, SCOV Activity Center at 10-11:30 AM.

Flag information: The Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) and Golder Ranch Fire District (GRFD) are teaming up to properly retire American flags. Did you know the U.S. Flag Code dictates that, "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way..."? Starting April 11, 2016 through Memorial Day, May 30, 2016, in honor of this code, anyone may drop off their retired flags for proper disposal at The Sun City Fire Station.

Annual Shredding Day: The Annual Shredding Day sponsored by the Sun City Foundation will be Saturday, April 16. REMEMBER: No plastic bags, no walk-ups, only shredding company employees will handle documents; only ONE line in the truck area. Extended hours: 8:30 to 11 a.m. All in line at 11 a.m. will be serviced. Bring your SCOV identification card!
