Restaurant Project:
If you've been to the restaurant recently, you've seen that the old pro shop is essentially demolished. Yesterday a temporary wall was built between the restaurant and what will be the lounge so a hole can be cut in the permanent wall for future sliding doors that will allow the restaurant and lounge to become one large room when needed. Although there is significant construction work taking place, service with a smile continues.

News From The Views Golf Club:
Are you a golfer with some experience who would like to play with others without the obligation of joining a club? Would you like to meet other like-minded golfers and have a friendly game? Would you like to have the joy of playing without or without: USGA Rules Score Keeping or Handicap Worries and JUST HAVE FUN? Please join us for an informal get together at The Views Restaurant (1555 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd) on April 14, 3:30-5 PM Couples and singles welcome!

Reminder to those of you who rent out your home
Your membership cards are non-transferable and may only be used by you.
You may not give your renters your cards.
  1. Before any renter(s) cards are issued, we MUST have your membership cards on file in the office AND your HOA dues must be up to date.
  2. There is a new form that must be completed by you and returned by your renter(s) when they come in to receive their renter's cards. Please find this form on the website, www.scovaz.com. Go to Association, Governing Documents and click on Renter/Delegated Form.
  3. The issuance fee for a renter card is $25 for up to two cards and that is good for the length of the lease.
  4. Please be advised the front office will not keep on file any future rental agreements. It is the responsibility of the renter to submit all paperwork upon arrival to SCOV.
Please contact the administration office with any questions - 520-825-3711.

Solar Project:
The Board approved an asset reserve expenditure not to exceed $69,000 for tile roof underlayment replacement where the solar panels will be installed. As noted previously, this work is being done now due to the age of the roofs and the practicality of replacing the underlayment now rather than in the near future which would require removal of the solar panels and a greater expense. Work on the roofs will begin in a few weeks.

Arts & Crafts Festival to be held December 3:
Registration for this year's festival is happening now. Vendor Registration forms for space or tables are in the Gift Shop. Please bring the completed form plus cash or checks to the Hopi Room on Tuesday, March 29, 8 AM or Thursday, March 31, 1 PM. Otherwise, mail the form and funds to Darrell Martin at 881E Sedona Place, Oro Valley, AZ 85755 after March 31.

Golf Cart Crossings: Questions came up at the last Board/Manager Coffee regarding golf carts and laws that pertain to the carts. As a follow up to those questions, I contacted the Oro Valley Policy Department for some information. First, the officer, Officer Thomas stated that golf cart must follow the same traffic laws that vehicles follow. Second, the golf cart crossing does not give priority to carts. As with pedestrians, vehicles have priority. However, if a pedestrian or a cart is well established within the crossing, vehicles must slow down or stop to avoid the person or cart. This scenario could occur in the case of a pedestrian but is highly unlikely in the case of a cart due to the fact that cart can cross the road quickly and should not be crossing when an oncoming vehicle is visible.

Golf Course Walking Times: Effective April 1 the walking hours will be changed. The morning time will be 6:30 AM and the evening will be 6 PM. Enjoy and please be very careful giving golfers' priority. That means if you are a walker, you must step aside and allow the golfer to hit before continuing your walk.

YOTO/Northwest Auxiliary (Youth on Their Own) is collecting scrap gold and silver jewelry and dental metal to GARFIELD Refining with proceeds going to Youth on Their Own. Drop off items April 11 from 9-11 am in the Activity Center Lobby. If you cannot make this date call Kris Cohen 520-818-2582.

Oro Valley Recreation Presentation: Wondering what fun stuff there is to do around here for visiting kids and grandkids? Are you just a big kid yourself? There are more recreational resources, programs/events, facilities and opportunities in our Oro Valley area than most of us are aware of. Come learn about them from Oro Valley's Director of Parks and Recreation, Kristy Diaz-Trahan. What are they? Where are they? How can we participate? How can I find out more about them? Come and learn from Kristy! Monday, March 28, 1 PM, Activity Center/Navajo. Sponsored by The Government Affairs Committee.

Sun City Strummers Concert: Mark your calendars for Friday April 8, 1 PM, Auditorium for the Sun City Strummers Concert and Sing-A-Long. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy this free annual concert-- fun for all with music for every taste and lots of opportunities to sing some old favorites.

Prevent Mosquitos and Disease:
Many of you will be leaving for the summer in the coming weeks. Before leaving, please make sure you get rid of anything that can catch and retain water. For example, empty and cover fountains and turn pots/containers upside down so that won't catch the rain water. Simple, quick measures such as these can prevent mosquitos from multiplying in a yard and causing a nuisance and health issues for your neighbors.

Oro Valley History Class: The March Tipster had a notice in Workshops and Classes for local historian and SCOV resident Jim Williams who is offering a two-day course on Oro Valley history at the Oro Valley Library. He has since been contacted by the Oro Valley Library and, due to room issues, the course was moved back to Wednesday, April 27 and Wednesday, May 4, 2-4 PM. This is open to the public, free of charge. For information, call Jim 520-818-2226.
