Cart trail safety: The number of reports of near misses and people being frightened is growing from those who ride and walk on the cart path behind the swimming pool, Artisan Center and the miniature golf course. It has become especially dangerous between the back of the Artisan Center and where the cart path exits onto Silverton. The mix of blind curves, excessive speed and inattention may one day lead to a tragic event. Residents, please keep your speed down and pay attention on this and all cart paths in the community. It's much better to have a slow ride on the cart path than to have a fast ride to an emergency room.
Joni Harms Show: If you have not purchased tickets for the Joni Harms Show on Friday (2-26-16) you will be able to purchase tickets at the door. Please bring the correct change and make all checks payable to SCOV for $18.pp.  Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show begins at 7 pm, Bring your own drinks and snacks.
2016/17 SCOV Budget: The Finance & Budget Committee reviewed the proposed SCOV Budget and is recommending that the Board approve it in April. The Board will begin discussion of the Budget at the March Study Session which will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 9 a.m. in the Welcome Center, Conference Room 3. The proposed Budget indicates a 4% annual dues increase. This is a larger increase than experienced in the past few years. However, if the Board approves the proposed Budget, the average annual dues increase will be maintained at only 2% over the past eight years. If you'd like to review the Budget, it is in the Library and it is available on the SCOV website at  http://www.suncityorovalley.com/members-login/financials/
Use of access cards/fobs at secured buildings: At the Board Meeting held this week, the Board approved a specific Rule that requires all residents to use his/her access card or fob whenever entering the three secured buildings. Keep in mind that use of your card or fob is much easier and faster than when everyone had to sign in prior to using these facilities. In addition, proper use of the access system greatly assists in assuring that only authorized residents who pay for these facilities will use them. The data that is gathered from the access system also helps the Board and management understand the use of the facilities. We understand that some residents who frequent a facility often may think that the monitors should or do know them. While that may be the case at times, keep in mind that new monitors are employed fairly often and hundreds if not more residents and guests use the facilities continually. So, the monitor may not know you. Plus, if one person doesn't check in with his/her card or fobs, other people watching this take place, may easily think that the practice of not entering a secured building without card of fob is acceptable when it is not acceptable. In summary, please use your card or fob and encourage your neighbors to do the same.
