There is also a concession stand. You will want to contact them for times and hours they are open during this time of year. Their phone number is 520-297-SWIM (7946) or visit their website at https://www.orovalleyaz.gov/aquatics.)

The Board invites you:
The Board of Directors wants to invite you to each and every Study Session and Board Meeting. Your thoughts and input are important and one of the best ways to be heard is by attending these monthly meetings. In addition, to this invitation the Board would like you to stop by the meetings 15 minutes before the meetings begin so you and the Board Members can have an opportunity for a casual conversation. This pre-meeting period will give you an opportunity to have one-on-one time with Board Members so you can either talk about light social issues or an Association related issue that may be very important to you. The next Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 9 AM, Welcome Center, Conference Room 3.

We have Nancy Toperzer to thank for the following report.
A couple of months ago, after experiencing a major leak in my copper pipes, I wrote a report. I've been interested to find out just how pervasive a problem this is here in SCOV, The plumbers who came to my house said they've been called out often to re-pipe houses over in SaddleBrooke. Two emails were sent out asking people in Sun City to call me and report their experiences with similar problems.
I received a handful of calls from interested people who either had information about this corrosion process caused by the desert soil, or they wanted to ask further questions. One gentleman called to tell me that his research on the topic uncovered two previous lawsuits brought against Del Webb because of just this very problem [under-slab leaks caused by soil corrosion of the copper pipes]. One lawsuit was in Nevada and settled, I think, in 2003. The other was here in Arizona, in Mariposa County, settled in 2014. Both suits settled in favor of the homeowners.
It was my hope to compile a headcount of the folks here in Sun City who have suffered leaks due to soil corrosion. I have a list of 29 residents who have been affected by this problem, but nearly all of them were reported to me by someone else. The disappointing part for me, is that I received only two calls directly from people who had gone through experiences similar to mine. I can only assume that my emails did not reach everybody, or that people simply don't want to dredge up bad memories of past plumbing ordeals.
I have tried to chart the location of all the residences affected on our Sun City map. My thought was that this might show up clusters of homes that have had leaks. Unfortunately, some people have since died or moved away. I don't have addresses for anyone who is not currently in our phone book. Because of the lack of response from people who actually had leaks, I feel my count is likely inaccurate. I can say though, that with just my incomplete data, the flowerpot area of Sun City, where my house is located, has been the hardest hit.
I'd like to thank everybody who took the time and effort to contact me either offering information or seeking information. It's been an interesting project. Nancy Toperzer 2338 Gerbera Way
