This Week in SCOV
_____________________________________________________________
1/21/16
AFC, Desert Oasis and Catalina Vista Access: According to the Monitors many of our residents are opening the doors and letting in other people behind them and/or are giving their cards to guests. We ask you again, to please everyone use your access cards when entering these facilities and do NOT let other people in who do not have cards or who chose not to use their cards. In addition, if you want your guests to use the facilities, you must accompany them to the facilities or authorize them to purchase a guest card. Please keep in mind that these are your facilities that are supported by your annual dues. Consistent and proper use of access cards will assure that your facilities will be for your exclusive use and will not be used or abused by people who are not properly authorized to use the facilities. If the monitors continue to report issues with access, we'll have little choice but to implement different entry procedures which may result in inconveniences and additional costs to our residents. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Solar Project: All documents that are required at this time to implement the solar project has been signed and delivered. Roof inspection and any necessary roof work is planned for February and March. The solar project installation is planned to being in April or May.
Restaurant/Lounge Project: Final necessary changes were made to the plans and the plans will be sent to contract bidders next week. Bids are due February 9th. Depending on the new bid prices, it may be necessary to return to the Board for a request for an expenditure approval.
Pro Shop Project: Bids are being secured so that modifications can be made to the asphalt area leading to the handicap restroom in the maintenance center. This access area must be in compliance with ADA regulations which means it cannot have a slop of more than 5 percent going forward and backward and 2 percent to either side. These are strict parameters that are not easy to meet.

Restaurant comments/complaints: First, it's important to note that the Food & Beverage Committee is now a Standing Committee that reports to the Board. With that noted, any time you have a complaint or comment regarding the restaurant operation, please fill out a comment card. Although changes are not necessarily made each time a card is submitted, every comment card is read by the General Manager, Food & Beverage Director and the Food & Beverage Committee. Many of these cards are discussed with those who review the cards to determine what measures should take place to correct issues and/or implement suggestions. Plus, five cards are drawn each month and a complimentary meal is presented to the persons who filled out those cards.

The Board Invites You: The Board of Directors wants to invite you to each and every Study Session and Board Meeting. Your thoughts and input are important and one of the best ways to be heard is by attending these monthly meetings. In addition, to this invitation the Board would like you to stop by the meetings 15 minutes before the meetings begin so you and the Board Members can have an opportunity for a casual conversation. This pre-meeting period will give you an opportunity to have one-on-one time with Board Members so you can either talk about light social issues or an Association related issue that may be very important to you. The next Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 26th at 9 a.m. in the Welcome Center, Conference Room 3. Please stop by a little early.
