Vote for the Views Golf Club and Restaurant: Come on everyone, let's let everyone in Oro Valley and the Northwest area know how we support our golf club and restaurant. Voting for the restaurant is a little more complicated due to the situation that you have to type in the name, The Views Restaurant, and due to the fact that there are several categories. Pro Shop Project: The handicap restroom access plan is complete and under review by the Town.

Restaurant/lounge project: The Restaurant Team has decided on alterations to the plans that were required due to the inability to access directly from the new lounge area into the kitchen. As a result, the architect will change the construction plans and submit the plans to the contractors for bid. At this point, bids are expected by approximately February 8.

Solar project: The agreements have been signed. As previously noted, it is expected that installation of the solar system will begin in April or possibly May.

The Views Restaurant is very excited for the release of our new menu! Chef Ben did not change the entire menu, but instead kept some favorite items and introduced a few new ones, like Huevos Rancheros and Black n' Blue Chicken Sandwich. We certainly hope you get a chance to come by and check it out. Can't wait? Preview the menu on the Sun City Oro Valley website under Dining & Banquets, Menu.

Cure For Cancer Golf Tournament: February 16, 2016. Sponsored by The Views Women's Nine-Hole Golf Club. All proceeds and donations go to the University of Arizona Foundation/Arizona Cancer Center. This event has raised over $45,000 since 1999 for cancer research at The U of A. Donations welcome! Make checks payable to the UAF/Arizona Cancer Center. We explain the Article Standards by which the Tipster Editorial Committee edits your article. There will be detailed information about using the computerized submission system, including submitting a photo to enhance your article and how to access and print pages from the online version of the Tipster. Ancient Native American Astronomical Practices. The Sun City Astronomy Club invites everyone to join them on Thursday, February 18 at 7 PM in the Navajo Room of the Activity Center to hear guest speaker Kenneth Zoll present an Arizona Humanities Council Road Scholar presentation on "Native American Astronomical Practices". Kenneth Zoll is the Executive Director of the Verde Valley Archaeology Center in Camp Verde. He has conducted extensive fieldwork in cultural astronomy of the Southwest and is a certified instructor in cultural astronomy with the Arizona Archaeological Society. He is currently working with Arizona State University's Center for Meteorite Studies on the use of meteorites among ancient Southwest cultures. Zoll is the author of several popular books on cultural astronomy and rock art in Central Arizona, as well as several cultural astronomy articles in professional publications. This meeting is sponsored by a grant from the Arizona Humanities Council and is open to the public. All are welcome.
 
Fragrance in the Fitness Center: Keep in mind that any fragrance (perfume, cologne, etc.) you may have on is accentuated when you're active. The result is that other people around you using the gym may be overwhelmed with the fragrance. As a curtesy to other who are using the fitness center, please minimize or preferably eliminate fragrances while using the fitness center.

Keep Moving Event: To help with your New Year's resolutions, your Active Health Committee is sponsoring "Keep Moving", a presentation by SCOV resident and Personal Trainer, Ray Jerkins, ACE, CPT on January 15th at 1 PM in the Auditorium. Ray will focus on a well-rounded exercise program that includes aerobics, balance, strength training, and flexibility. He will provide tips for staying enthusiastic and committed to our individualized programs.

SCOV Slate of Board Candidates: The Nominating Committee announces the addition of a petition candidate, Debra Arrett, to the slate of candidates which now includes Debra Arrett, Meade Davis, Bob Hefner, Ted Hood and Nate Norris.

SCOV Quilt Show registration will be held Monday, February 8 and Friday, February 12 from 9am -12noon in the lobby of the activity center. All residents of Sun City may enter quilts, wall-hangings and any handmade Christmas stockings which will be our special display this year. Call Carol 404-1462 if further information is needed.

CAC Loan Room Annual Pancake Breakfast: Mark your calendars and plan to attend the annual CAC Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, Jan. 30th between 7:30 AM and 9 AM. Join your neighbors for a wonderful breakfast of pancakes, ham, applesauce, orange juice and coffee.
Tickets may be purchase for only $5 at the Activity Center on Mon., Tues, and Thurs, Jan. 25, 26, and 28 from 9-11 AM and on Wed., Jan. 27 from 1-3 PM. Tickets are also available in the Loan Room on Tues. or Thurs., 8-9 AM. Tickets can also be purchased at the door!
The Loan Room is a unique service only for SCOV residents. We are the only community around offering free use of multiple medical items, items needed for visiting relatives and other general rental type items. The annual breakfast and the Aluminum Can Recycling Program are the only fund raisers for CAC. All events and the Loan Room are staffed by volunteers. We should all be proud of this service and support it! See you at Breakfast on Saturday, January 30.

Martin Luther King Day: In observance of the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr., the Welcome Center and the Library Will be closed on Monday, January 18. All other facilities have regular hours.

AFC Pool Closing at 6 PM - Until further notice, the AFC pool will be covered early to save energy and not put a strain on the heating system due to the continued cold weather. The Desert Oasis will close at its usual 4:30 PM time. We do apologize for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your cooperation.
