This Week in SCOV
_____________________________________________________________
12/31/15

New Year: From all of the SCOV staff, we wish you a very Happy New Year.

Restaurant/lounge project: The Town completed its second review of the plans. The architect will respond to comments that the Town presented and re-submit the plans. The architect will also submit the revised plans to general contractors so that additional bids may be secured. In the meantime, the Restaurant/Lounge Team continues to work on details with the décor, furnishing, etc.

Pro shop: Although a survey was conducted in an effort to complete the temporary handicap parking, unfortunately the ADA required slope of 2% maximum on the temporary handicap parking space was not met. There was one area, the transition from the concrete in the front of the pro shop to the asphalt, that was about a 3.5% slope. Visually it would be very difficult, if not impossible, for most individuals to detect the difference between a 2% slope and 3.5% slope, but with a smart level, it was detected by the inspector. As a result, the temporary certificate of occupancy that we had hoped to get will not be issued this week. Until a discussion can take place with the contractor and architect next week, the next step is not certain. If very minor modifications can be made to the temporary parking area to bring it into compliance, that work may be done to secure an approval for a temporary handicap parking spot. If the required work is too extensive and expensive, it's likely that we'll wait until the permanent handicap parking spot and access can be created, which will take at least a few weeks.
