Everyone who submits an article for the Tipster must attend ONE class.
Go to our website www.scovaz.comlogin as a member with your user name and password and go to Member > Member Services > Event Registration > Read More >then register for the class of your choice.
In the class we explain the Article Standards by which the Tipster Editorial Committee edits your article. There
will be detailed information about using the computerized submission system, including submitting a photo to enhance your article and how to access and print pages from the online version of the Tipster. We hope you
can make ONE of these classes.
Two more classes for Tipster Submitters are:
Class 2     Tuesday, January 5, 10 AM, WC1
Class 3     Thursday, February 4, 9 AM, WC1
Pickleball Lights: The pickleball lights have been converted to LED. A test on the first night after the new lights were installed showed that they are more than adequate to play pickleball during the evening. In addition to saving money over a period of time, the LED lights come on instantly rather than requiring a warm up period.
Weathered Brown Wrought Iron Fence Painting Countdown: Here's the last notice regarding the deadline to paint fences. Have you painted your fence yet? If not, please keep in mind that there are 1 month left until January 1, 2016 when all fences need to be painted Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown. Any brand of paint may be used as long as the color is Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown.
The Board Invites You: The Board of Directors wants to invite you to each and every Study Session and Board Meeting. Your thoughts and input are important and one of the best ways to be heard is by attending these monthly meetings. In addition, to this invitation the Board would like you to stop by the meetings 15 minutes before the meetings begin so you and the Board Members can have an opportunity for a casual conversation. This pre-meeting period will give you an opportunity to have one-on-one time with Board Members so you can either talk about light social issues or an Association related issue that may be very important to you. The combination Board Meeting/Study Session will be held on Thursday, December 10th at 9 AM in the Welcome Center, Conference Room 3. Please stop by a little early.
Golf Course Walkers: Here's a reminder that unless there is a special event, there is no golf on Tuesday morning so walkers can be on the course until 11:30. Also, tee-times move to 8 a.m. so walkers can stay on the course until 8 a.m. until further notice. As the tee-times change and day light changes the walking signs will be changed from time-to-time continually allowing walkers to be on the course for a reasonable length of time. As usual, I need to advise you that golfers have priority.
Lion Head Fountain: You may have noticed that the Lion Head Fountain is not working at this time. The reason is that there are so many leaves falling in the fountain that when it's running it requires cleaning at least three times a day. Not only is this a large labor requirement but more importantly if staff isn't able to get the cleaning done at the right time, the pump line can get clogged which can result in a burned out pump motor. Rather than take the chance of damaging the motor, the fountain will be shut down until most of the leaves have fallen. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Putters Please: The mini golf is in need of putters. If you have one to donate, please drop it off at the Activity Center in the mini golf putter station. Thanks!
Fund Raiser: Jean James will be leading her string ensemble "Aloha and Country Strings" in a fundraising holiday sing-along performance to benefit the Painted Sky Elementary Thunderbird volunteer tutoring center, Sunday, Dec. 6, 1 PM, Barnes and Noble, Foothills Mall. Fun for all and a good cause!
American Red Cross Blood Drive: Sun City's next drive is Thursday, December 17, 8-11 AM, Auditorium. Schedule an appointment by calling the Red Cross 1-800-448-3543 or by visiting redcrossblood.org. You can make someone else's holiday markedly better by giving the gift of life.
Architectural Review Committee: There will be NO ARC meeting on Tuesday, December 22.
The Active Health Committee is sponsoring an Introduction to Walking our Golf Course, Tuesday December 8. For people who have not walked the course before. Meet the leader, Clive Probert from the Hiking Club, outside the new Pro Shop at 7:30 AM and walk for up to 45 minutes. Bring water and wear walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Please register in advance by calling Clive at 825-8719.
The Active Health Committee invites you to attend a presentation called, "Boost Your Mood, Build Resistance, and Add to Life's Enjoyment" on Friday, December 11 at 1 PM in the Auditorium. The presenter is Kathy Khalsa, Occupational Therapist and Clinical Coordinator for the Senior Behavioral Health Unit at Oro Valley Hospital. Kathy's passion is working with adults and seniors to achieve their functional goals. Just as it requires effort to build physical health, the same can be said for mental health. Improving your emotional health can be a rewarding experience that adds to your overall enjoyment of life.
ant Basic TV? Here's a note of interest. One of our residents only wanted basic local television. As it turned out this resident found a product that provides excellent reception for basic local channels. The product is made by Mohu and its called Leaf Ultimate. According to the manufacturer, reception can be received if you are within 60 miles of a broadcasting source. There may be similar devices that provide this kind of reception but we only know of this one. If you are interested in this device or a similar device, you should consult with a local retailer or an online firm that deals with electronics.

These clubs are getting into the holiday spirit by helping others. But, they need your help too!
The Sun City Singers are holding their annual holiday food drive. They are collecting canned and non-perishable food items at their "Ring In the Holidays" concerts on Friday and Tuesday, December 4 and 8 in the Auditorium at 7 PM. All will be donated to IMPACT (formerly Catalina Community Services Food Bank). Food items may also be donated when purchasing concert tickets for $5 per person. Ticket sale dates are December 1-3 and 7 in the Activity Center Lobby and at the door on concert evenings. Your donations help families in need during this holiday season.
