Weathered Brown wrought iron fence painting countdown: Have you painted your fence yet? If not, please keep in mind that there are 2 months left until January 1, 2016 when all fences need to be painted Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown. Any brand of paint may be used as long as the color is Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown.
The Board Invites You: The Board of Directors wants to invite you to each and every Study Session and Board Meeting. Your thoughts and input are important and one of the best ways to be heard is by attending these monthly meetings. In addition, to this invitation the Board would like you to stop by the meetings 15 minutes before the meetings begin so you and the Board Members can have an opportunity for a casual conversation. This pre-meeting period will give you an opportunity to have one-on-one time with Board Members so you can either talk about light social issues or an Association related issue that may be very important to you. The combination Board Meeting/Study Session will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 9 AM in the Welcome Center, Conference Room 3. Please stop by a little early.
Pro Shop Project: The project is very close to completion. The primary task that needs to be completed before a final inspection is schedule is the exterior connection for the fire suppression system, which will occur in the next few days.
Café/Lounge Project: The Implementation Team presented its plan to the Membership on November 4th. There was a full-house in the Auditorium who appeared to receive the report very well. The next step is to submit a final report or plan to the Board on November 12th and request approval for the project. If approved, it is possible that construction will begin in a month or two. Everything will be done to minimize closure of the restaurant during construction. The upside of this approach is that service will be continual or near continual. The downside is that the construction time will be longer than if it was not done in phases which will be necessary to avoid a long period of restaurant closure.
The Government Affairs Committee Invites YOU To Attend A Forum Given by The Oro Valley Water Utility. On November 12, 1 PM, Hohokam/Hopi rooms. Learn how to use and control the new Aqua Hawk Alerting System.  The new water meter upgrade provides a free program enabling you to track your own water usage, detect leakage and improve water conservation.  Information on how to use this new system will be provided. Speaker: Karn Boyce, Water Conservation Specialist. Bring your questions and comments. Refreshments provided.
Veteran's Day Event: Join us in the Auditorium on November 11 at 11 AM as the Association honors our veterans. The program will be presented by the Oro Valley American Legion unit 132. There is no charge for this event. The program is for SCOV residents and guests. If you have any old flags that need to be disposed of properly, bring them to this event. The American Legion will take them and dispose of them.
Emerge! Event: Join us for our Accessories Boutique fundraiser to benefit Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse on Saturday, November 7th from 1-3:30 PM in the Activity Center Native American Rooms. The boutique will feature beautiful, gently used accessories donated by SCOV residents (purses, scarves, jewelry, hats and shoes) all at bargain prices! The afternoon Accessories Boutique will be open to all Sun City residents. All net proceeds from this sales will go to the Emerge organization. Mark your calendars.
Solicitation Phone Calls: Here's another suggestion given to me that can help get rid of solicitation phone calls. If the call is a recorded message, you might want to listen to it as some of these message have an opt out at the end of the message. One of our residents recently did this and when the resident opted out, the phone calls from this particular solicitor stopped.
RV Parking Violations: Did you know that RVs only have 72 hours to load and unload and are not to be parked in driveways or on the street for a longer period of time! If you see an RV parked in your neighborhood for a period of more than 72 hours, feel free to contact Katy Mosier at the Association office, 917-8058 to report a violation. Violations reported will result in notice to the party that has parked his/her RV in violation of the Rules which could eventually result in fines if the RV is not moved.
Questions, comments, etc. regarding This Week's SCOV Report: If you have a question, comment or other response that you would like to make regarding an item in this report, you may reply to this message. Depending on the nature of your response (comment, question, etc.), I will acknowledge your reply, answer your questions or take other appropriate action(s) in as timely a manner as possible.
