Pro Shop project: Although the architect was under the impression that the Town was not requiring a fire suppression system in the pro shop, he was mistaking. As it turns out a system will be required. The installation of this system will delay completion of the pro shop project by about a month. While this delay will create an inconvenience for our staff and possibly for our golfers on a temporary basis, it's not a critical issue. Fortunately the approved budget included the cost of a fire suppression system so the cost of this system is not a surprise. Also, work will not be able to start on the lounge project until at least early November if not later. Therefore, the delay with the pro shop project will impact the café/lounge project.

Café/Lounge project: The Café/Lounge Implementation Team provided the Board with a status reported last week and will submit a final report and request for approval at the October 27 Board Meeting. In the meantime, the team is engaged with the contractor and architect in an attempt to identify cost savings measures.

The Board invites you: The Board of Directors wants to invite you to each and every Study Session and Board Meeting. Your thoughts and input are important and one of the best ways to be heard is by attending these monthly meetings. In addition, to this invitation the Board would like you to stop by the meetings 15 minutes before the meetings begin so you and the Board Members can have an opportunity for a casual conversation. This pre-meeting period will give you an opportunity to have one-on-one time with Board Members so you can either talk about light social issues or an Association related issue that may be very important to you. The next Study Session will be held on Thursday, October 8 at 9 a.m. in the Welcome Center, Conference Room 3. Please stop by a little early.

Great job opportunity: At this time we are looking for monitors to work at the Desert Oasis and the Aquatic and Fitness Center. This is a great opportunity to turn a few hours a week into cash without traveling far. You could work between 16 and 20 hours a week. For more information call Pam Sarpalius (917-8077) to pick up a job description and answer any questions you may have. Starting pay $8.50 an hour. (minimum wage). Thank you. Pam

Weathered Brown wrought iron fence painting countdown: Have you painted your fence yet? If not, please keep in mind that there are 3 months left until January 1, 2016, when all fences need to be painted Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown. Any brand of paint may be used as long as the color is Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown.

Aggressive dogs and dog waste: I recently had a report of a dog attacking one of our residents. While most dogs are very well behaved, there are dogs that are more aggressive. If you happen to have such a dog, please take every precaution possible to assure that your dog will not hard anyone. Keep them on a leash; warn people that are nearby not to pet or approach your dog; if necessary mussel your dog. Preventing hard to others is very important for their safety and your liability. In addition to this note, below is an article that was sent to me that is full of very important information regarding dogs.

Under Oro Valley's Town Code, it is a civil infraction for the "owner or person having custody of any dog to fail to immediately remove and dispose of, in a sanitary manner, any solid waste deposited by such dog on public property and/or on any private property without the consent of the person in control of the property." I share this with you as a dutiful pet owner myself who frequents our local parks and trails and is witness to what I once thought just pet owner laziness. Surprisingly it is actually a violation of the law.

So your pet went poop in a public place and you don't feel like picking it up. What's the big deal? The big deal for your first infraction is a fine for no less than $25.00. Let it happen again in a twelve month period and you'll receive a fine for no less than $100.00. Third time? A hefty fine at $200.00 not to exceed $250.00. But here's the kicker: "Any person violating the provisions of this article shall be guilty of a separate offense for each day or portion of a day during which any violation of this article is committed and/or permitted." That means you will be violating and fined separately for each day you leave Fido's waste unattended.

There are other laws regarding your pets as well. It is "unlawful to bring a dog onto the grounds of any school, regardless of whether the dog is restrained by a leash, chain, rope, cord or similar device." That said, any dog in public places such as streets, sidewalks, and parks should "restrained by a leash, chain, rope, cord or similar device." If you own a dog within Oro Valley it must be licensed and vaccinated in accordance with the Pima County Animal Control Code and licensed dogs are required to wear a collar with the license tag affixed. Violations to the above fall under the same fines as previously stated.

It seems much more cost effective to follow the animal control laws and to just scoop that poop when you're out with your pet. A full list of the towns laws for pet owners and animal control including feeding wildlife, vicious or dangerous animals, and procedures can be found on the Oro a Valley Town Code.

Sunday the pool hours are 9am until 4pm. Remember water volleyball is played from 1pm to 3pm on Sundays. AFC pool is open Monday through Saturday 5am to 8:30pm. The Sunday hours are 5am to 5:30pm. Pools will be covered depending on weather conditions. If pools are closed why still there is still warm weather algae forms and the pools must be closed until the condition is resolved.
