Consumer Referral Committee: After seven years of dedication and excellent leadership, Don and Pat Pomeroy have decided it is time to step aside as chairs of the CRC. This is a very important committee as the database of vendors and contractors that the Committee maintains provides
an excellent resource of insured and licensed local companies that offer services such as
landscaping, painting, home improvements, general handyman services and much more. It's critical that this chair position is filled so this valuable resource may continue for our residents. If you have an interest in this position, please contact Robin Coulter at
rcoulter@suncityorovalley.com or me at bmariani@suncityorovalleycom
Pro Shop and Café/Lounge Projects: All is going well with both projects. It's expected that the Café/Lounge project will be presented to the Board at the September 22 Board Meeting and the Board will be requested to approve the project. This is dependent on all bids being received on time.
Weathered Brown wrought iron fence painting countdown: Have you painted your fence yet? If not, please keep in mind that there are four months left until January 1, 2016 when all fences need to be painted Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown. Any brand of paint may be used as long as the color is Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown.
Scams: Two scams that were reported last week concerned a caller claiming to be from the census bureau and another caller claiming to be from a computer company advising the resident that his/her computer had been hacked and the caller wanted to get into the computer to make corrections. In both of these cases, the caller was obviously attempting to gain personal information about the resident. The point is unless you are 100% sure who you are talking to, don't give information out over the phone.

There also seems to be construction/home improvement scams in the area. Before hiring someone, consider checking reference, check with the Community Referral Committee to find out if they are on the list, check the State Board of Registrars and/or check with the BBB.
Monitor positions available: Looking to have some extra cash but don't want to drive far and go back to work full time? We now have two monitor positions open. Working in the community has benefits. No long drive and you can schedule days you can't work. Call Pam Sarpalius (917-8077) to pick up a job description. Starting pay is $8.05 an hour.
Sunrisers exercise group: We are happy to announce that the Sunrisers exercise group will now also meet on Wednesday mornings starting September 9. Mark your calendars that Sunrisers meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 6:30 to 7:30 AM. An FYI there will be a class on Monday Labor Day, September 7.
Important 911 information: If you ever have the need to call 911 regarding an issue in Oro Valley, it's very important to confirm that you have reached Oro Valley, 911. If you have reached 911 outside of Oro Valley, make sure to be transferred to Oro Valley 911. This message came directly from Oro Valley Chief of Police, Danny Sharp.
Dispose-A-Med: Upcoming Dispose-A-Med events will be held on Tuesday, November 10 from 9 to 11 AM, in the Activity Center.
