This Week in SCOV

8/27/15
Pro Shop Project: According to the latest schedule provided by the contractor, the Pro Shop is projected for completion on September 25. As we all know, delays often occur due to late deliveries of material, weather, inspection issues, etc. As a result, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if the project took a few more days to complete. In any case if it is complete on or about the 25th, it will be great timing as planned in that merchandise, etc. can be brought in to the shop, and the shop should be ready for business when the course re-opens after overseeding. Here are a couple of photos to show the parking lot status and the new Pro Shop.

Café/Lounge project: Planning is coming along well. The goal is to present a plan to the Board and request approval to award a contract at the September 22 Board Meeting. This timeline is very tight so it may be necessary to call a Special Board Meeting shortly after the scheduled Board Meeting.

Another Scam: It's been reported that calls are being received from callers claiming to be from Dish Network. They are asking residents to give them their Dish registration number. Dish does not make calls for this type of thing, they send letters. Do not give these callers information and it's suggested to report the calls to the OV Police Department.
Golf Course Walkers, New Tee-Times: Starting in September, tee times will begin at 7 AM. As a result, non-golfers may stay on the course until just before 7 AM. Please keep in mind that golfers have priority. So, if you happen to be walking or riding a cart on the course while golfers are out there, please be aware and step aside to allow golfers to play.
Gabriel Ayala, an Emmy-nominated performer, will appear in the Auditorium on September 26. Doors open at 6:30 PM, performance at 7 PM. The residents of SCOV always ask for his trio to appear. Keep in mind that this is not all classical music. IF you have never heard this trio, you will be very surprised at the great show they put on. Gather some friends for cabaret seating. Bring your own drinks and snacks. Ice and water will be provided. Tickets are now on sale at the Welcome Center, $15/pp.
Library Sale:The Library is running a Dog Days of Summer Media Sale. Everything is buy two, get one free! Come in and see the large selection of hardbacks, paperbacks, audio books, videos, and music CDs. There is also a small number of large print books for sale. Thank you for supporting your library!
Community Telephone Directory:  Because of a new schedule from the creators of our telephone book, we have an extra two weeks to accept and process additions and changes to the residential white pages.  Please tell neighbors and tell new residents!!  Thanks!!!  Carolyn Lerch, 818-3319, preferably email:  gclerch@comcast.net.
Walking Your Dog? If you have a dog in your family, you probably like to walk him/her around the community. It's good for you and the dog. If you do have a habit of walking your dog, out of respect for your neighbors, please make it a habit to keep your dog on a leash and pick up after your dog. Thank you.
MOSQUITOES BREED IN STANDING WATER: With the summer monsoon weather upon us, it behooves all residents to check their property for evidence of standing water, a breeding ground for the mosquitoes.  Such things as empty pots, unused fountains or backyard pools need to be drained or have the water changed, at least on a weekly basis.  Your neighbors will appreciate your actions.
