If you know the model name of your home and have a nice picture of the front it that could be used on the new website in our HOMES section (which will feature a floor plan along with a photograph of that house plan), please complete a photo release along with a picture of your home here or go to scovaz.com, click on News & Info, click on Surveys and choose Submit a Picture of Your Home. Thank you for your help!

Do you rent your home?

  1. Your Facility Access Cards (Membership cards) are non-transferable and may only be used by you. You may not give your renters your cards.
  2. Before any Cards are issued to renters, we MUST have your Facility Access Cards on file in the office AND your HOA dues must be up to date.
  3. There is a new form that must be completed by you and returned by your renter(s) when they come in to receive their Cards. Please find this form on the website (scovaz.com). Go to Association, Governing Documents and click on Renter/Delegated Form.
  4. There is a $25 renter registration fee.
  5. Please be advised the front office will not keep on file any future rental agreements. It is the responsibility of the renter to submit all paperwork upon arrival to SCOV.

Weathered Brown wrought iron fence painting countdown: Have you painted your fence yet? If not, please keep in mind that there are 5 months left until January 1, 2016, when all fences need to be painted Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown. Any brand of paint may be used as long as the color is Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown.

Suspended facility access privileges: Have you paid your 2015-16 Association dues? If not, please be reminded that your access cards/fobs will be deactivated and your facility access privileges will be suspended on August 10 until your dues and any late fees are paid. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation with this matter.

End of Summer Fling: You stayed all summer, so let's celebrate. Come to the "End of Summer Fling" on August 15. Admission tickets must be purchased to attend the Fling and are on sale at the Welcome Center for $8. No tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets will be exchanged at the door for wristbands. The $8 admission includes dancing and wonderful desserts from our dessert table prepared and served by our SCOV Cafe staff. Bring your own snacks and drinks. Ice will be provided. Get your tickets NOW. It will be a great community event. More information about this event is in the Tipster and on a flyer (FYI -- The ticket charge is for the amazing dessert table. Providing the music will be DJs, Gus  D'Oldie and Miss Gina, who are new residents to the community.)

What is Creeping Down Our Streets? Everywhere one looks, the pesky spreading weed called Spurge is obvious!  It is creeping down our streets and sidewalks, and it seems to be everywhere!  Spurge is one weed that should never be pulled, as it has a tap root that holds many seeds.  For every one that is pulled, more pop up.  It has the seeming ability to spread overnight, and it is most obvious in the cracks where the cement meets the asphalt of our streets.  Please take a few minutes and spray the Spurge in your yard, and in front of your property.  Only after it has died, should it be pulled.  Both the NPC and your neighbors will thank you, as it is taking over our community this monsoon season and creeping down our streets.

Utility Box Painting in Unit #17: The painting of utility boxes in private yards continues.  The project was started a few years ago when the decision was made to paint the boxes the Weathered Brown color throughout the community at no charge to the individual homeowner.   This summer and early fall, the painting will be in Unit #17, the "Flower Pots."  If necessary, please trim shrubs around the utility boxes in your yard to make it easier for the utility companies and/or the painter to gain access to the boxes.

SCOV Telephone Directory:  ONE LAST TIME!!!!  You have until Sunday, August 9, to review your entry in the community phone directory that is printed and distributed. This is basically what the new phone book will look like.  Please be quality control and be sure that your information listed is correct. Send additions or corrections no later than Sunday to Carolyn Lerch at gclerch@comcast.net. . (Remember - Your unit/lot & email address are not listed in the printed, distributed community directory, so you will not see it in this current listing.)   After this weekend, the "normal" on-line website directory that includes unit and lot numbers and email addresses will be posted. Also, if you notice any discrepancy (e.g. neighbors who have moved out but still are still listed), please notify Carolyn ASAP.  We want to make the new directory as accurate as possible as of now. Thank you.

Pro shop project: The pro shop project has been moving along yet not at the pace that we'd like to see. There have been some minor delays with steel and electrical work that has delayed other sub-contractor's work. Hopefully these delays will be offset as the project continues, which often occurs.

Lounge project: There is not much new to report here. As previously noted, the interior design work is essentially complete, and the construction plans are about 75% complete. The Implementation Team will meet this week to discuss construction plans and give the architect any necessary direction.

Mayor and Council election petitions: If you would like to sign any or all of the petitions for the candidates running for the Oro Valley Town Council (including Mayoral candidate Pat Straney), you may do so on the following dates and times in the SCOV Activity Center: Thursday, August 6 plus Monday, August 10 through Thursday, August 13 between 8:30 and 11:30 AM. The Association is not sponsoring or endorsing any candidates. Candidates Steve Didio, Ryan Hartung, Shirl Lamonna and Pat Straney are required to gather petition signatures to be placed on the ballot for the November election.

Join the Sun City Democratic Club on August 8 at 1 PM in the Navajo Room (Activity Center) to hear guest speaker Tory Anderson, Executive Director for the Arizona Alliance for Retired Americans speak on what's happening in Washington and threats to Social Security and Medicare.  RSVPs appreciated but not required!  Questions?  Contact club president Maureen Salz 520-240-0049 or mosalz@outlook.com
