Telephone Directory:  The draft for the 2015-2016 printed community directory that is distributed to all SCOV residents is now on-line in the Members Only section on the SCOV website for your review. Please take a moment to find your entry to ensure your information is correct. For those of you who personally requested certain information be removed from the printed directory, please note this has been done. The deadline for additions and adjustments has been extended to July 31, 2015.  If there are any further changes, please complete the form in the Administration office or contact Carolyn Lerch at gclerch@comcast.net.

Also, every so often a list of new residents was available online in the Members Only section. That online list is not available at the present time. However, for anyone who requires that list, please email Carolyn Lerch  gclerch@comcast.net.

Do you know the model name of your home? If you do and have a nice picture of the front of your home that could be used on the new website in our HOMES section (which will feature a floor plan along with a photograph of that house plan), please complete a photo release along with a picture of your home here or go to scovaz.com, click on News & Info, click on Surveys and choose Submit a Picture of Your Home. Thank you for your help!

Reminder from the CAC:

The Community Assistance Committee (CAC), provider of the Loan Room, thanks all who contribute their aluminum cans to our recycling program.  During the last fiscal year, we received just under $2,600 for the cans that you have contributed.  We would like to point out this recycling program is for aluminum cans only, NOT for plastic and glass containers of any sort, or for tin cans containing  such items as soups or vegetables.

Please help our daily sorters of this material by making sure you are contributing only aluminum cans to our collection bins, and that they are rinsed and clean.  Unrinsed cans are a great attraction for bees, and it makes it very difficult to do the daily sorting when they are present.

If you are not contributing to our aluminum can recycling program, we encourage you to so, as the money earned from the project goes to not only the Loan Room, but assists other groups in SCOV with their volunteer activities.

Current projects:

  • Pro shop: First, it's necessary to ask that unless an individual is expressly authorized to enter into the fenced/taped off construction area, it is critical that for your safety all unauthorized individuals must stay out of the construction area at all times. In regard to the progress, the pro shop project is moving along as expected with the exception of the new cart parking area. The challenge with the parking area is the electrical work has been delayed which in-turn has delayed the asphalt work. This delay is an inconvenience to our staff but will not delay the completion of the pro shop project.
  • Lounge/Café: Planning for this project is occurring with interior design, engineering and general construction plans. We're anticipating that the construction documents will be delivered to the Town for review in August, hopefully early August, and best case scenario the project will be complete early January 2016. Keep in mind that timeline is fairly optimistic.
  • Racquetball courts: The courts are being painted, floor repairs and the wall by the entry door changed so the door and wall will be flush with each other.
  • Facilities painting: The metal rails in the common area are being painted weather brown. In addition, all of the common area buildings will be painted over the next few months with the new color scheme.
  • Administrative: While the observable projects noted above are underway, there are also several less noticeable projects taking place such as a conversion to a web based email system, entry of massive data collected from our required HUD age survey, continued work on the new website, and a complete conversation to a computerized system in the Library to manage the books, CDs, DVDs, etc. The Library is also undergoing some renovation including a counter that will soon be installed for the computer system and other administrative needs.

New scam? If you get a call from the Police Brotherhood Lodge claiming to collect funds for police officers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty, you're very likely receiving a scam call. The best advice is to thoroughly check out any solicitation for donations before giving anything.

Town Council Candidates: If you want to sign the petitions to get Oro Valley Town Council Candidates STEVE DIDIO, RYAN HARTUNG AND SHIRL LAMONNA on the November ballot, there will be a table inside the Activity Center on from today through Saturday, July 25th from 8:30 to 11:30 AM.
