Aerification schedule:  Monday, June 29, back 9, putting green & chipping area will be closed. Play front 9 twice. Tuesday, June 30, front 9 will be closed. Play back 9 twice. Thank you for your patience during this process.

Pond project: The remainder of the debris that accumulated in the golf course irrigation inlet pond has been moved to the other pond. The plan is over the next two or three years as budget allows, the debris will be removed from that pond and transported off the property.

Golf Hole #5, Chalk Creek Wash: Annual dredging and aligning of the Wash was completed last week at a cost of $10,000. The cost for this project was allocated to the Wash Fund as planned.

Lounge project: Work on all aspects of the lounge project is moving ahead. During the past few days, a request for proposals was sent to several general contractors for a design/build approach. Once this pricing is submitted, the contractor with the lowest profit/overhead cost will secure competitive bids from sub-contractors. This approach was used very successfully with the AFC project. The resulting low bid will be brought to the Board along with other bids for restaurant equipment, furnishings, etc. for Board approval.

Pro Shop Project: The Town's review of the plans is complete. Once the pre-construction meeting has been held which is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, the permit will be issued and construction may begin.

Spa Line Leak Repair: The leak in the domestic water line to the spa was repaired by abandoning that line and using the hose bib line that is in the spa area. This approach prevented demolition of the restroom area.

Donations for Youth on Their Own: The newest partnered organization in SCOV, the YOTO/Northwest Auxiliary, is collecting school supplies and hygiene items for Back to School for the 1500+ students served by Youth on Their Own, the Tucson non-profit organization that supports the high school graduation of local abandoned and homeless youth, homeless through no fault of their own.  Bring your donation of school supplies or personal care items to the Activity Center lobby on July 9 or July 14 from 9-10:30 AM.  Checks made out to YOTO will also be accepted. Please call Kris Cohen with any questions at 818-2582.

New scam using Walmart: If you received a letter and check from what appears to be Walmart, be leery. It was reported that hundreds if not more people were sent checks from what looked to be from Walmart. When these checks are deposited, the real scam source is able to get the depositors information and drain their bank accounts. So, before depositing a check such as this, check with Walmart first and/or simply get rid of the check and report the incident to the Oro Valley Police.

Microsoft scam: A scam organization continues to call residents claiming they are Microsoft asking for a debit or credit card payment to update or repair your computer. If you get a call from anyone claiming to represent Microsoft, do not give them any information and report the call to the Oro Valley Police.

Dog walkers: Residents are more than welcome to walk your dogs around the community and in the common area but please do not leave little reminders around. Please respect your neighbors and pick up after your dogs!

The Friends of the Library pay for a six-day-a-week subscription to the Wall Street Journal as a service to our community. The newspaper is to be read in the Library. Older issues are often given to residents upon request, but only after they are four or more days old.  Recently, issues have begun disappearing on the first day they are put out. We hope these incidents are anomalies, as many in our community rely on the current issue being in the Library each day. Let's return to the practice of reading the Wall Street Journal in the Library, and taking out past issues only after checking with our Librarian, Kate Cusumano. Thank you.

Wrought iron fence painting: According to conversations I have had, many or most residents are going to Home Depot or Lowes to purchase paint for the wrought iron fences. However, if you plan to purchase your paint at Dunn Edwards and would like have the opportunity to purchase your paint at the SCOV price, I'm told you may give the store the SCOV account number, 277397-000 and pay cash to get that price.

Monsoon season is here:  Both the Desert Oasis and the Aquatic & Fitness Center have electronic lightning detectors. If thunder or lightning is detected within 15 miles both pools, spa and pool deck areas will be closed for your safety. Pool areas will reopen 30 minutes after detectors show no danger in the area.
