This Week in SCOV

June 11, 2015

Food and Beverage Director: The announcement of Christopher Sapp in last week's SCOV report didn't appear to clearly outline his qualifications. To better clarify his education and experience, it should be noted that his Master's degree from UCLA in Hotel Management included extensive education in not only general hotel operations but also food and beverage operations. In addition, it should be clarified that his management and other positions with Ritz Carlton dealt with food and beverage, not general hotel operations. Christopher has worked in every aspect of the food and beverage industry from dishwashing to cooking to serving and much more. His education, experience and expectation of excellence is expected to raise our food and beverage operation to a new level.

ARC Inspections: The ARC has added a sub-committee, the Architectural Compliance Team (ACT), which will do courtesy inspections to the exterior of your property. If you are thinking of putting your home on the market, or are just curious, the ACT will do an inspection of your home for you. If you have a courtesy inspection done you are under no obligation to make any corrections to your home, should any be needed. It is just a heads up as to the condition of your property. If you want an inspection done contact Katy Mosier, the Community Services Coordinator, at 917-8058 or see her in the Welcome Center.

Due to members of the committee being out of town, the ARC will not hold its regularly scheduled meeting June 23. The next meeting will be July 14. If you are planning on having anything done that requires ARC approval, please keep this in mind before you hire a contractor or start any project.

Annual Dues Payments: If at all possible, it would be greatly appreciated if you would mail your payments directly to the bank with the return envelope enclosed in your billing. Although payments may be made at the Welcome Center, submitting payments to the bank results in a significant time savings for your staff. Thank you!

Tennis Courts and Clock Tower: The tennis court painting is complete. Depending on weather, the clock tower painting and repairs should be complete by the end of the week.

Pro Shop and Lounge Projects: The pro shop plans have been approved by the Town. A few minor details remain before construction begins, but if all goes well, ground may be broken next week. The Lounge/Café Implementation Team continues to work on the new plans for the lounge and Café. Once a few last issues are decided upon, the construction drawings can be completed and submitted to the Town for review.

AFC Leak: A water leak that appears to be coming from underground appeared a couple of days ago. It appears that the leak may be coming from the spa pump water lines, but that has not yet been confirmed. If it is a spa issue, the problem should be corrected under warranty as the spa construction has a two year warranty.

Facility-Use Cards (Membership) and Fobs: Apparently, there is some misunderstanding about the purpose of the cards and fobs. These devices that allow access to some of the SCOV facilities are all individually encoded so that each time a resident enters, for example the AFC, there is a recording of who entered and the time of entry. The purpose of the card and fob is not just to keep track of numbers, but to have knowledge of who is using the facilities. Knowing this kind of information best assures that you, the residents, and your guests are using the facilities and not individuals who are not authorized. So please, once again, be sure to use your card or fob every time you access facilities such as the AFC, Desert Oasis and Catalina Vista. Thank you.
