Weathered Brown fence painting countdown:Have you painted your fence yet? If not, please keep in mind that there are 10 months left until January 1, 2016 when all fences need to be painted Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown. Any brand of paint may be used as long as the color is Dunn Edwards Weathered Brown. 

The Board invites you:The Board of Directors wants to invite you to each and every Study Session and Board Meeting. Your thoughts and input are important and one of the best ways to be heard is by attending these monthly meetings. In addition, to this invitation the Board would like you to stop by 15 minutes before the meetings begin so you and the Board Members can have an opportunity for a casual conversation. This pre-meeting period will give you an opportunity to have one-on-one time with Board Members so you can either talk about light social issues or an Association related issue that may be very important to you. The Board Study Session will be held on Thursday, March 12th at 9 a.m. in the Welcome Center, Conference Room 3. Please stop by a little early. 

Attention NEW Residents! If you purchased a home any time after 10/1/14, you are cordially invited to the New Resident Meet & Greet Breakfast on Tuesday, March 10 at 8 AM in the Activity Center. News from The Views Golf Club

HIT & GIGGLE TOURNAMENT -Sunday, March 15, 12:30 PM shotgun. Everyone Welcome! No handicap needed! Golfers of all skill levels invited. Sign up as a single or couple. Cost:  $27/person ($7 annual pass holders) and includes appetizers and cash bar with drink specials after golf in The Cafe. Sign up in the pro shop or call 825-3110.

AFC Committee needs you: Are you interested in making the AFC the best facility it can possibly be. If so, please consider joining the AFC Committee that deals with a wide array of issues related to the facility. Anyone who is interested should contact the Committee chair, Sharon Hertle at shertle@comcast.net

Renting Your Home: If you rent out your home, it is imperative that you read the following regarding our procedures to issue renter cards:

  1. Your membership cards are non-transferable and may only be used by you. You may not give your renters your cards.
  2. Before any renter(s) cards are issued, we MUST have your membership cards on file in the office AND your HOA dues must be up to date.
  3. There is a new form that must be completed by you and returned by your renter(s) when they come in to receive their renter's cards. Please fill out the form  HERE.
  4. The issuance fee for a renter card is $25 for up to two cards and that is good for the length of the lease.
  5. Please be advised the front office will not keep on file any future rental agreements. It is the responsibility of the renter to submit all paperwork upon arrival to SCOV.

News From The Café

Friday, March 13, 4 - 7 PM, Friday the 13th Happy Hour - Part II. Featuring diablo or teriyaki wings, bacon and cheddar potato skins, pepperoni and pineapple mini-calzone, black bean hummus with pita points. Specialty drink - Midnight Moon cocktail $6. $1 off all liquor, beer and wine.

Tuesday, March 17, 4 - 7 PM, St. Patrick's Day Buffet $16/person. Featuring steak and Guinness pie, Dublin coddle (sausage, onion and potato stew), corned beef and cabbage, Irish colcannon (winter vegetable casserole), red potatoes, soda bread and Guinness cake.

Friday, March 27, 4 - 7 PM, Tapas & Spanish Wines. Featuring ham croquetas, Andalucian tomato & garlic dip with grilled bread, bacon-wrapped chorizo dates, and polenta with romesco sauce, pincho ribs with sherry glaze, chorizo-stuffed mushrooms and an assortment of Spanish wines.
**All special dinners will have additional 18% gratuity added to the check, and all menus subject to change.

3 PM on the above dates.

Committee Members Sought: Volunteerism and the strength of our community committees have made Sun City Oro Valley into one of the best structured, well-run active adult communities. The skills our residents bring to our committee work have saved money and created opportunities for SCOV. It's time to begin filling our committees for the next fiscal year. Fill out a Committee Application HERE. 

Dispose-A-Med:Empty your medicine cabinet and bring your unused or expired prescriptions, over the counter medications, vitamins/supplements to the SCOV Activity Center and dispose of them properly. The Oro Valley Police and the Sun City Vistoso Community Foundation will be there to except the above items. The Dispose-A- Med occurs the second Tuesday of every other month from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Activity Center. Dates: March 10. May 12 and Nov 10.There will be no Dispose-A-med for July and Sept. 

Chief of Police, Danny Sharp to speak:Stop by the Activity Center Hohokam Room on Thursday, March 12th at 10 a.m. to hear Chief Sharp talk about crime prevention and volunteerism plus have you question answered about related issues.

Monday Madness:The Gift Shop will have the Monday Madness tables set up next Monday, March 9 from 9 AM-12:30 PM in front of the shop. There are always great bargains to be found.
 
POETOGRAPHY - What Is It? - Reserve Wednesday March 11th 6:30 PM in Hohokam Rm (Activity Center) for this annual collaboration between SCOV photographers and poets. "Poetography" refers to poems inspired by photographs. Of the 50+ photos SCOV photographers presented to the poets in SCOV's Poets Corner, 20 were selected as the most inspiring by 13 poets. Come and see the photos projected onto 2 screens as poets read their poems aloud. A wide variety of poems have been created in response to equally varied and unusual photographs. Refreshments served. Come early for best seating. For more information call Harvey Gardner at 308-5616.

Pre-emergent spraying for weeds: This week spraying for weeds will take place along Rancho Vistoso Blvd. and around the Mountain Vista complex. If you're walking your dog in these areas, please keep them from coming in contact with the rock areas as best possible. The pre-emergence will be watered in to the rocks within a short time and will not pose any issues once watered into the rocks.

Monitor needed to work at the Desert Oasis and Welcome Center. One of the Welcome Center duties, from time to time, is using the copier to make large quantities of copies on Saturday mornings. Starting pay is minimum wage, $8.05 an hour, Work schedule changes monthly. If interested please call Pam Sarpalius at 917-8077 and make an appointment to pick up a copy of the monitors duties.
