Town's purchase of El Conquistador: There was a typo in last week's report. It stated that the two individuals who filed the law suit against the Town and "I" would be meeting with the attorney to discuss an appeal to the judge's decision regarding the referendum. The "I" in the report which may have appeared as though I, Bob Mariani planned to meet with the attorney, was an error. I have not been a direct part of the law suit. The only participation that the Board or staff has had in this issue is that the Board took a position against the purchase of the country club by the Town and staff has communicated to the SCOV membership about the issue.

President's Day: In honor of President's Day the Welcome Center and Library will be closed on Monday 2-16-15. All other facilities will have regular hours.

Phone Directory: All residents are quality control experts for the telephone directory. So when Bob Mariani writes, review your directory information online, or Chris Richard puts it in the Tipster, that is a serious request for you to login into the Members Only portion of the website and review your information for accuracy. Remember that some elements like the email addresses are only online and will not be put into the actual book. But it is still a good idea to check the accuracy and be sure to let me know if your email address does change so I can correct it in my database. For the new residents, I must receive information from you, either online or hard copy form. As a new resident, you are not automatically put into the telephone directory database.
A new problem came up this time in the blue section Resident Listings by Street.  Any of the phone numbers that have a letter designation in front (like who is the owner of that cell phone) was treated as a number in the alphabet like on your telephone keypad. Therefore, your numbers will not resemble anything as it should be!!  I was told this was a most unusual idea on my part!!!  It will be corrected next year. Carolyn Lerch 818-3319 or

Arts and Crafts Sign Ups:  Sign-ups for the 2015 Fall Arts and Crafts show will he held March 17, 8-9AM and March 19, 1-2PM in the Navajo Room, Activity Center. Applications will be available in the Gift Shop after March 1.

Sonoran Desert Museum presentation: The Sonoran Desert Museum will present a program entitled "Hawks to Hummingbirds" in the Auditorium on Friday, 2-13-15 at 1pm. There is no charge for this event. The Sonoran Desert Museum has always presented great programs for you to enjoy and learn.

Bocce Ball Equipment: In the past bocce ball equipment was available in the tennis building for casual users of the courts. Now that the bocce ball courts are located in the park area by the mini-golf, the equipment has been placed in the Activity Center by the restrooms for your convenience.

Trash cans:There seems to be a difference of opinion about where trash cans should be placed for pick up. The trash company says, put them in the street next to the curb. Others say that's not the best place, put the cans on the yard side of the sidewalk. The one place that cans should NOT be placed are on the sidewalks. So, please put your trash cans where the disposal company's equipment can get to them as long as they are NOT on the sidewalk.
