PETITION REGARDING THE TOWN'S PURCHASE OF EL CONQUISTADOR

I have received a few questions about who may sign the petition. In order for a petition signature to be considered valid, the signer must be a registered voter in Arizona and must sign in person. Also, signatures must be gathered in the next few weeks. So, if you're out of town for an extended period of time, you won't be able to sign the petition. As a reminder, volunteers will be collecting signatures in the Activity Center this Friday, December 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

PICKLEBALL/BOCCEBALL  Depending on weather, the contractor's staff is scheduled to be on-site Friday, December 26th to begin surfacing the pickleball courts. The latest forecast is 30% chance of rain on Thursday and Friday. The bocceball courts will be complete early in January according to the contractor.

TRASH CANS  Help maintain a safe environment by keeping trash cans off the sidewalk. People who are walking, and there are many of them, have a difficult and sometimes unsafe situation avoiding the cans. So be a good neighbor and place your trash cans on one side of the sidewalk or the other side.

CART PARADE  We are pleased to announce the Golf Cart Parade winners:

1st prize - Don Hess

2nd prize - Jerry and Judy Hale

3rd prize - Aneita Babicz

SCAM ALERTS

Scam #1: Here's the latest that came to my attention. An outfit posing as Walgreens sends and email advising the recipient that he/she has a prescription that is ready and directs the person to click on a link. When the link is clicked on, the sender may then have access to the recipient's computer and/or will ask for payment for a prescription that does not exist.

Scam #2: Here's what was reported to me: A person calls, saying he is a  police officer, giving you his name and badge number. .  He tells you that last week you missed an appointment for serving on a grand jury.  And because of this, there are two warrants out for your arrest. Already, there has been an appointment made with a certain person at the courthouse down town, giving the date, time, and room number. In order not to be arrested, you must take over $5,500 in cash only  to Fry's or Safeway When their customer desk receive the cash, a ".dot" card will be issued and this will show you have posted bond. Another approached used has been to ask the person to purchase gift cards and give them to a police officer who will waiting in the parking lot. You will receive your money back at the time you meet with the person at the courthouse.    If you do not follow this procedure exactly  there is an officer close to your house who will arrest you and take you to jail.  Leave your cell phone on and if you tell the bank anything that is going on, an  officer will be present outside the bank and arrest you.  Then you will remain in jail until the date set for your appearance next month at the courthouse. Apparently OV Police have received about ten complaints about this type of scam.

Happy Holidays: Have a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic 2015!
