Questions, comments, etc. regarding This Week's SCOV Report: If you have a question, comment
or other response that you like to make regarding an item in this report, you may reply to this message. Depending on the nature of your response (comment, question, etc.), I will acknowledge your reply,
answer your questions or take other appropriate action(s) in as timely a manner as possible

Gas station credit/debit card scam: Scammers were used last year at the gas station on Oracle and Rancho Vistoso Drive and other places in Oro Valley. Anyone can put a devise in the credit/debit card slot and when you go to use it, it records all your card information. If the devise sticks out rather than is flush with the surface around it, think twice about using your card. If an attendant is available, it's advisable to bring the issue to his/her attention so that it can be checked before using.

Golf Cart Safety Guidelines

  • Any cart that is driven on public streets must be insured and registered. Failure to insure your cart may result in a huge financial liability if an accident occurs and driving an unlicensed cart on the street can result in a citation from the Oro Valley Police in an amount in excess of $200.
  • Before driving your cart, make sure it is properly maintained. Have batteries and tires among other things checked on a regular basis.
  • Take it slow....don't drive any faster than conditions allow.
  • Avoid distractions such as using a cell phone.
  • If you have seat belts, wear them.
  • Sound your horn at blind turns.
  • Be very careful when changing lanes on the public streets....check twice or more before moving from one lane to another.
  • Don't drink and drive your cart.
  • Don't allow anyone to ride in the cargo area.
  • Don't allow young, unlicensed people to drive your cart.
  • Always keep in mind that cars and trucks are much bigger than your cart and will always win the battle if a collision occurs so drive extremely carefully on the streets, parking lot and cart paths.

Diamondbacks Bus Trip June 19th: Sit back and relax on a luxury bus to the Diamondbacks game. The bus will leave the Welcome Center no later than 9:15 AM. The bus will depart the stadium a half hour after the game ends. Seats are in the "Diamond" section of the ball park. These seats are great for viewing, wider, more leg room with food service to your seat if you wish. Also concession stands are nearby. Weather is no problem since the stadium is covered and cooled. If you want to sit with a certain group of people please purchase all the tickets at one time. Tickets are on sale at the Welcome Center. See Coco or Pam. Checks are made payable to SCOV, $47.PP. There will be only one bus so get your tickets now.

Don't forget to ask your server about the daily drink special.
  • Breakfast till 11:30 and lunch is still served during the same hours. So, you can either lunch or breakfast from 10:30 to 11:30.

Projects, brief updates (another reminder):

  • Mountain Vista parking lot: The parking lot will be re-constructed during the period of June 23rd through July 2nd. There will be no access in or out of the lot during that time.
  • Activity Center: Electrical floor boxes and carpet will be installed in the Native American Rooms and audio video work will be done in the Auditorium. As a result of these projects, the Activity Center will be closed from June 16th through June 30th. The lobby tile will not be replaced at this time nor will the restrooms be re-tiled. These projects will be referred to an ad hoc committee that will work with a commercial designer to determine what improvements will be made to the facility.
  • Restrooms: During the next couple of months, several of the restrooms in the various facilities will be refreshed with new tile, stall enclosures, etc. As these restrooms are worked on, notice will be given.
  • Pickleball/Bocceball: A contract should be awarded within a week or two. It will take about two weeks
to develop plans after the contract is awarded and probably about six weeks to have plans approved. So, construction should begin on the bocceball courts in about two months then the pickleball courts will be constructed. Unless the Town allows some of the construction to take place without permits, construction is likely to take place in September and October. We had hoped to have these projects completed sooner than that but changes in location of the bocceball courts delayed the process.

New Summer Golf Pass:Unlimited golf and a bucket of balls for each round for only
$599 including a cart or $549 without a cart. This pass is valid from May 1st to over seeding in September, over four and a half months of golf. Pick up your summer pass at the Welcome Center.

Lost and Found: There is a table at the AFC with the many items that are in the lost and found. Please stop by and see if any items belong to you. The table will be taken down next week and unclaimed items will be donated.

New Monitors: You may have noticed several new monitors in our facilities. Please keep in mind that these new employees may not know who you are and may ask to see your membership card. These employees are doing their job to insure that only SCOV members and guests are using our facilities. We ask for your cooperation.
