Questions, comments, etc. regarding This Week's SCOV Report: If you have a question, comment or other response that you like to make regarding an item in this report, you may reply to this message. Depending on the nature of your response (comment, question, etc.), I will acknowledge your reply, answer your questions or take other appropriate action(s) in as timely a manner as possible

Golf course walkers: If you're enjoying leisurely walks on the golf course during early mornings or late afternoons, we want you to enjoy yourself and be safe, so here are a couple of helpful hints. First, watch where you're walking as there are plenty of rattlesnakes out on the course and it's amazing how easy it is to be right on top of one if you're not staying aware of your surroundings. Second, watch for golfers as they have the right-of-way. If you see golfers, please always allow them to play and please stay out of the way of incoming balls. If you've ever been hit by a golf ball you know the pain it can cause and you'll know that you won't want it to happen a second time.

Recent attempt to break into a car: Recently a couple of young men were seen attempting to break into a car in the Mountain Vista parking lot. Fortunately someone saw this occurring, called the police and the perpetrators were arrested. The main point of advising you of this incident is to make you aware that no matter how safe it is in SCOV, crime can still occur. So, you're urged to not only lock your home and car doors but to keep valuables out of sight. If you're going to leave a purse or laptop or something of value in your car, put it in the trunk or somewhere out of sight.

18/9 Hole Annual Combo Couple Golf Pass: The cost of the pass is not correct on the rate card and information that was in the annual mailing. The actual fee is $4,540. We apologize for the clerical error.

Projects, brief updates:

  • Chalk Creek: Unfortunately the engineering firm, WLB Engineering has fallen behind on plan development. Everything possible is being done to fast-track this project so it can be completed prior to the monsoon season.

  • Mountain Vista parking lot: The parking lot will be under re-construction during the period of June 23rd through July 2nd. There will be no access in or out of the lot during that time.

  • Activity Center: Electrical floor boxes and carpet will be installed in the Native American Rooms and audio video work will be done in the Auditorium. As a result of these projects, the Activity Center will be closed from June 16th through June 30th. The lobby tile will not be replaced at this time nor will the restrooms be re-tiled. These projects will be referred to an ad hoc committee that will work with a commercial designer to determine what improvements will be made to the facility.

  • Restrooms: During the next couple of months, several of the restrooms in the various facilities will be refreshed with new tile, stall enclosures, etc. As these restrooms are worked on, notice will be given.

Pickleball/Bocceball: A contract should be awarded within a week or two. It will take about two weeks to develop plans after the contract is awarded and probably about six weeks to have plans approved. So, construction should begin on the bocceball courts in about two months then the pickleball courts will be constructed. Unless the Town allows some of the construction to take place without permits, construction is likely to take place in September and October. We had hoped to have these projects completed sooner than that but changes in location of the bocceball courts delayed the process.
