Questions, comments, etc. regarding This Week's SCOV Report: If you have a question, comment or other response that you like to make regarding an item in this report, you may reply to this message. Depending on the nature of your response (comment, question, etc.), I will acknowledge your reply, answer your questions or take other appropriate action(s) in as timely a manner as possible.

Board Newsletter: So many residents comment on how they appreciate reading the Board Newsletter that summarizes the Board Meetings. Unfortunately Walt Hill who has been doing a wonderful job writing the Newsletter is no longer able to take on that task. Are you interested in keeping this excellent communication going? If so, please let me or the Board know of your interest.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON GOLF CARTS, AUTOMOBILES AND PEDESTRIANS WHO SHARE THE ROADS:

Golf Carts:   Golf carts driven on the streets of SCOV must follow the same traffic laws as automobiles.  Golf carts driven on the streets of SCOV must be registered and licensed by the Arizona Department of Transportation and carry proof of insurance.  In Arizona, golf carts can only be driven on streets with speed limits of 35 mph or less.  Within Sun City Oro Valley, golf carts can be driven in the "special use lane" typically used by bicyclists; however, they cannot be driven in this lane in areas where the speed limit exceeds 35 mph.

Automobiles:  To report improper driving within the Town of Oro Valley, call the Traffic Hot Line at 229-4933, or you can report a specific vehicle driving improperly or dangerously within the Town of Oro Valley by calling 911.

Pedestrians: Drivers should stop for pedestrians in crosswalks such as the intersection of Rancho Vistoso Blvd. and Del Webb Blvd. HOWEVER, since cars a bigger and more powerful than people, pedestrians should proceed with caution.

OVPD asking for the public's assistance in fraud case: Oro Valley, Ariz. (April 28, 2014) - The Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a person of interest in a fraud. On April 3, 2014, several credit cards were stolen from one locker broken into at Platinum Fitness in Oro Valley. Prior to the credit cards being cancelled, an unidentified male charged over $10,000 worth of items on the victim's credit cards. The person of interest is described as a white male with red hair, who appears to be in his early 40's. A store surveillance photo shows him wearing a blue dress shirt with a striped tie, black slacks and black dress shoes. If anyone knows the identity of this person, you are asked to call 911, 88-crime or (520) 229-4900.

Summer Golf Rates are Here!

You have to be kidding me! The weather is beautiful and the course is in great condition yet the rates are dropping today. That's right, as a resident of SCOV, you can begin playing today at green fee rates of $32 in the morning and only $17 after 1 PM. You avid golfers can get out there every day at this price and those of you who don't play too often, this is an excellent time to sharpen your game at super prices. Come on out and enjoy a round of golf then stop by the Café for a drink or meal or if you finish your round after 3 PM you can enjoy the afternoon menu which includes full beverage service, appetizers and hot dogs.

New Summer Golf Pass: Want to play a lot of golf this summer at a very affordable rate? Here's your chance. Unlimited golf and a bucket of balls for each round for only $599 including a cart or $549 without a cart. This pass is valid from May 1st to over seeding in September, over four and a half months of golf. Pick up your summer pass at the Welcome Center.

The Board invites you: The Board of Directors wants to invite you to each and every Study Session and Board Meeting. Your thoughts and input are important and one of the best ways to be heard is by attending these monthly meetings. In addition, to this invitation the Board would like you to stop by the meetings 15 minutes before the meetings begin so you and the Board Members can have an opportunity for a casual conversation. This pre-meeting period will give you an opportunity to have one-on-one time with Board Members so you can either talk about light social issues or an Association related issue that may be very important to you. The May Study Session will be held on Thursday, May 8th at 9 a.m. in the Welcome Center, Conference Room 3. Please stop by a little early.
