Questions, comments, etc. regarding This Week's SCOV Report: If you have a question, comment or other response that you like to make regarding an item in this report, you may reply to this message. Depending on the nature of your response (comment, question, etc.), I will acknowledge your reply, answer your questions or take other appropriate action(s) in as timely a manner as possible.

Golf Car Safety and other topics: So much of the transportation in SCOV takes place by golf cars. As a result, it is very important to learn how you can stay safe and understand laws regarding golf cars. To get this information and pedestrian safety stop by the event put on by the Government Affairs Committee that will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd in the Navajo/Hohokam Rooms at 1:30 p.m.

Library Sale: The SCOV Library is running a Spring Sale on books, videos and music CDs. Everything is "Buy three get one free!" The sale runs through April 11.

Recycling:Effective May 1st more recycling will be encouraged in SCOV. In addition to the aluminum can recycling for the Community Assistance Committee there will be recycling container in the Auditorium, Desert Oasis and Catalina Vista for tin cans, plastic, glass and paper. Of course, all items placed in these containers need to be rinsed out so bugs are attracted and the recycling containers won't smell. This kind of recycling container will not be placed in the fitness center due to the situation that typically only plastic water bottles are bought into this area and the new water fountain was specifically installed to encourage refilling water bottles so as not to waste plastic. It's important to note that plastic water bottle should not be refilled over an extended period of time.

Walkers on golf course:Are you enjoying leisurely walks on the golf course during the morning or late afternoon/early evening hours? If so, it's very important for you to pay attention to the golfers and yield to them as they are playing. Recently a number of walkers are not keeping track of golfers which can be dangerous and possibly lead to injury. So, if you see someone or a group playing, step aside and give them time to play through the area you are walking plus please keep noise to a minimum.

Tennis court entry:Work will begin on the new entry through the west tennis court wall on Monday, April 14th at 7 a.m. The project will take at least a week. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this project may cause anyone during this short construction period yet am confident it will be beneficial for access to the tennis courts, pickleball courts and bocce ball courts.

Street Chip Seal Project:The contractor that is performing the chip seal application to the streets has notified the Association that the project will be delayed until the first week of May. As we get closer to May, the contractor will provide a more specific schedule to the residents.

Local author H. Alan Day: will join us on Tuesday, April 22, 1 PM at the Activity Center/Navajo, to discuss his newest memoir, The Horse Lover: A Cowboy's Quest to Save the Wild Mustangs. Alan and his sister Sandra Day O'Connor co-authored the NY Times bestseller, Lazy B. There is no charge for this event, however, to help us plan for attendance you will need to obtain a ticket, available in the Library now through April 21.

Shred-It Event: This year's shred-it will be on April 19, from 9-11 AM at Activity Center parking lot. Entrance to the parking lot site for this event will be from Silverton Avenue only. Sun City Vistoso Community Foundation members will be there to show cars to the lines leading to the Shred-It disposal trucks. This event is for Sun City residents only to dispose of sensitive personal documents like financial records, old checks, and items with social security or bank account numbers. Documents should be in plastic or paper bags; NO BOXES, please. Do not park or leave vehicles to unload as Foundation members will show you where to stop and will unload your bags so cars can move out of the drop-off area more quickly.

Golf Lessons: Are you ready to step up your golf game? Register today for The Views intermediate golf school. Learn short game (putting, chipping, pitching and bunker shots), full swing, on-course instruction and course management. The school will be held every Saturday and Sunday from May 10 - 25 from 8:30 - 9:30 AM. Cost: $120.00 for all six sessions. Register online at http://theviewsgolfclub.com/calendar/.  Please call the pro shop for more information -825-3110.

AT&T site:The site located in SCOV will be upgraded very soon to handle increased domestic and business data and voice. Hopefully this upgrade will assist with cell service for our residents.

Scam:The latest brought to my attention is an individual sends out an email stating that he/she is dying and wants to leave his/her money to you even though the person doesn't know you. All you have to do is respond by email. What happens after that I don't know but if it seems too good to be true it is too good to be true so do not respond.

Extra Phone Books...Just this time only, there will be extra phone books available.  You may pick them up where the Tipsters are located.  They will be there until they're gone.
