Questions, comments, etc. regarding This Week's SCOV Report: If you have a question, comment or other response that you like to make regarding an item in this report, you may reply to this message. Depending on the nature of your response (comment, question, etc.), I will acknowledge your reply, answer your questions or take other appropriate action(s) in as timely a manner as possible.

New Green Fee Twilight Rates: Here's a great new deal. After 2:00 p.m. you can play as many holes as you can get in for only $25 without a cart and $35 with a cart. Most tee-time days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday), the course is not nearly full. So here's an opportunity for you to play at a super rate and for the Views Golf Club to fill the course during the later afternoon hours. As the season changes the twilight time and rate will change. Call 825-3110 for tee times.

Café: The Café has a new hot dog machine that will help give golfers or anyone an opportunity to grab a quick bite and go. Along with a variety of appetizers, hot dogs will now be available until the Café closes at 6 p.m.

Swimming Pool Sun Sails: Sun sails at the AFC pool have been discussed from time to time and recently invested by the Strategic Projects Committee. Although it may seem like a simple thing to install these large sails the Committee found otherwise. One issue is that the Town requires these sails to withstand 90 miles per hour winds. The requirement would result in the installation of massive posts that would not only take up room on the pool deck but would also be a view hindrance.

Saguaro Refuse: If you call for service, please call 520-745-8820 and let them know that you live in Rancho Vistoso. Apparently some of the operators have not been informed that Saguaro services Sun City or that Sun City is receiving the same rates as Rancho Vistoso. Also, I received a call from Saguaro giving me correct rates. Their rates are $36.59 quarterly, for once a week pick up and $46.14 quarterly, for twice a week pickup.

Arts and Crafts Fair: REGISTRATION forms and a map showing where the tables will be available on March 1 in the Gift Shop. Registration will take place on Tuesday, March 11, from 1 to 2 PM OR on Thursday, March 13, from 8 to 9.

Rancho Vistoso Street Lights:According to Town staff, the Town has been fixing one issue after another in an attempt to repair and get the RVB street lights to work properly. Since this approach is not working, Town staff has included in the upcoming budget funds to replace all the electrical components of one of the three circuits for the street lights. All components in the other two circuits will be replaced over the subsequent two years.

Rancho Vistoso Median: You've probably noticed that the landscaping project on Rancho Vistoso Blvd. is coming along very well. We anticipate that the project will be complete within a couple of weeks.

For your 2014 Telephone Directory:  Please review the online directory to be sure that all of your information is correct.  This online directory will be in your actual 2014 Telephone Directory.  Exceptions are where some of you have said that information is acceptable online but not in the actual directory.  If there are any corrections or comments, please email Carolyn Lerch at gclerch@comcast.net. In order to view the Directory on the Association's web site, you will need to log into the Members Only section. If you do not have a user name and password for the Members Only section, contact Kat Peabody at 917-8068 and she will assist you with securing a user name and password.

Pickleball and Bocceball Courts: You may have already noticed that the Board of Directors approved the construction of three new pickleball courts where the bocceball courts currently exist. In addition, four new Bocceball courts were approved to be constructed at Catalina Vista. The construction will not begin until summer; however, proposals will be secured over the next several weeks in preparation for the work to be completed. This is only one of about two dozen major projects that could be completed this summer. Since there are so many projects that were projected to be completed this summer, it is apparent that some of these projects will have to take priority and other will most likely be delayed until after summer or possibly next year.

New Residents: Are you a new resident since October 1? We would like to cordially invite you to our New Resident Meet & Greet Breakfast on Wednesday, March 12 in the Activity Center/Navajo room. The festivities will begin 8 am with a delicious breakfast, and there will be a short informational presentation after. Come meet fellow new residents as well as current residents and SCOV staff who will be happy to answer any of your questions. To register for this breakfast, please click here. Please RSVP by Friday, March 7. Call Kat Peabody at 917-8068 with any questions.

SCOV Resident takes part in movie, Breath of Freedom: A movie about how World War II and its aftermath set the stage for the Civil Rights Movement was aired on the Smithsonian channel on February 17th and narrated by Cuba Gooding, Jr. One of the individuals interviewed as part of this film is one of our residents, Hal Linton who is a former airman and who was stationed at Tempelhof in Berlin in 1960. Hal met his wife Ingrid while serving in Germany and were in Berlin when the Wall went up.
