Questions, comments, etc. regarding This Week's SCOV Report: If you have a question, comment or other response that you like to make regarding an item in this report, you may reply to this message. Depending on the nature of your response (comment, question, etc.), I will acknowledge your reply, answer your questions or take other appropriate action(s) in as timely a manner as possible.

Spa Closure: As some of you have experienced, the bottom step in the spa has been an issue in that it creates a larger than normal step down when entering the spa. The spa contractor has agreed to correct this situation at their cost, which is the good news. The not so good news is that the spa will be closed for approximately two weeks to complete the repair of the step.

Street work in SCOV: The Town of Oro Valley will be placing surface treatments in Sun City Units 8,9,10, 12, 13 and 14.   The work is estimated to begin the first weeks of April 2014. Crews will be on site from 7:30 AM till 3:00 PM Monday thru Friday. Further information will be given to by the contractor after the contract has been awarded by the Town.

Catalina Mountain Scene install on Clock Tower: Thanks to the Vistoso Hiking Club with a little help from our staff with installation, a new picture scene of the Catalinas with descriptions has been installed on the top deck handrail of the Clock Tower. This display will add some unique interest and information for residents who make the trek to the top of the Clock Tower.

AWAGA Tournament Winners: The Views Nine Hole Women's Golf Club made history on January 13, 2014, when members of their Nine Hole Women's Club, Betty Bittle and Becky Sellars, won the Arizona State Medallion Award back to back in 2012 and 2013, which had never been accomplished previously. This State Medallion Tournament is the largest event that the not for profit corporation, Arizona Women's Golf Association sponsors every year since 2000 for the 18 hole women and 2001 for the 9 hole women. This year the State Medallion Tournament had 236 club champions from 118 clubs (18 hole) and 36 club champions from 18 clubs (9 hole) participate.

Tipster Delay: The printer that produces the Tipster has advised us that their printing press is under repair. As a result, the Tipster will not be ready until Tuesday, February 4th for pick up. However, the Tipster will be available on the SCOV web site on Friday, January 31st.

Candidate Coffee: Please join our board candidates Bert Gustafson, Susan Jakosa and Jack Saatkamp for an informational coffee on Tuesday, February 4, 9 AM, Navajo.  Don Coleman's first coffee is Friday, February 7, 3 PM, Navajo.

Scams: Scam #1: People are continuing to call our residents claiming to be Microsoft employees. They are stating that Microsoft has detected a problem with your computer and ask for information so they can access your compute at which time they steal personal information. Do not give anyone who calls you in this manner, access to your computer or any personal information. Anytime anyone call you and wants personal information, deny them unless you are 100% sure you know who you're talking with. Scam #2: A second scam concerns individuals who call and notify the person they have called that they have just won a huge prize (could be money, cars, etc.). All the person needs from you is $105. Scam #3: According to a report that I received, a company or companies are mailing out renewal notices claiming to be Consumer Reports. One of these companies goes by the name of Associated Publishers network. If you get a renewal notice from any company that claims to be part of Consumer Reports, please either check out the source before responding, report it to the police or at the very least do not respond to the notice.

Copper Health Oro Valley: Key individuals associated with the facility provided an update to the membership. Without going into a great deal of detail, it was indicated that the timeline for completion of the project is 100 to 150 days. This projection seems realistic as work is occurring on a regular basis on-site.

Rancho Vistoso Blvd. median landscaping: A large portion of the pants have been installed in the medians and it is expected that the first phase of this re-landscaping will be complete within the next few days. The second phase irrigation installation is also underway and installation of plants will follow the completion of the irrigation project.
