Questions, comments, etc. regarding This Week's SCOV Report: If you have a question, comment or other response that you like to make regarding an item in this report, you may reply to this message. Depending on the nature of your response (comment, question, etc.), I will acknowledge your reply, answer your questions or take other appropriate action(s) in as timely a manner as possible.

Wifi now in Fitness Center, Pool and Court Yard: Bring your iPad or laptop to the fitness center while exercising or enjoy some leisurely time sunbathing or relaxing on a Courtyard bench while surfing the net. This is one more benefit SCOV residents can enjoy.

Exercise Classes moving to AFC: The exercising classes are moving to the new fitness center studios. Please see the attached schedule for the classes or see the calendar on the SCOV website. Click here

Locker Room Closure: The recessed lighting in the locker rooms is not correct and has to be changed out. This will be done on Tuesday, January 21st at 9 a.m. This work will require that the power is turned off to the locker rooms for a least an hour, which will result in closure of the locker rooms from 9 a.m. to at least 10 a.m.

Fitness Center Goodies: We would like to thank Sprouts and Safeway for their donation of granola and protein bars that we passed out at the opening of the AFC.

Fitness equipment training: YouTube training for the fitness equipment is on the SCOV website. Click here for your training.

Fitness Center finishing touches: Since opening the fitness center, there have been many requests for various finishing touches. These requests are not unexpected as there was a choice of completing all the details after construction was complete and before opening the fitness center or opening as soon as possible so that our members could have use of this beautiful new facility. The later choice was made knowing that there would be hooks to hang, benches to put in place and several other minor details to complete in order to provide all the proper conveniences. So, please be a bit patient and if you see something that needs to be done in the fitness center, feel free to email me or let Lonnie Davis or a department manager know about your request.

Disasters can occur anywhere: Think we can't have a disaster, either natural or man-made, think again. The last thing that any of us should think is that Sun City Oro Valley is immune from a disaster such as flood, fire, earth quake or a cyber-attack that could leave us without water, phones or electricity. We can't control these possible disasters but can be prepared. An easy first step in being prepared for a disaster is to go to the www.ready.gov for a world of emergency preparedness information and specifically go to this LINK for an excellent basic kit that will help you get through an emergency situation. It only takes a few minutes to make the difference between possible life and the alternative.

Martin Luther King Day: Please be reminded that in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Day, the Administration and the Library will be closed Monday, January 20th.

Copper Health Oro Valley: An update on Copper Health Oro Valley (formally Villa Fatima) will be presented to the membership on January 27th at 11:30 in the Auditorium. This should be a very informative session so if you're interested in the future of this project located at the corner of Sun City Blvd. and Rancho Vistoso Blvd., please plan on attending this function.

Copper Health Oro Valley (formally Villa Fatima): The facility on the corner of Rancho Vistoso Blvd. and Sun City Blvd. will have a ground breaking ceremony on Thursday, January 16th at 4:30 p.m. In addition to the work that is going on at the site, this is a good sign that the project is moving forward.

Rancho Vistoso Median Landscaping: Due to delays with the work on the street connection that Copper Health has in process and the fact that the Town will not allow two lane closures at one time, the median landscaping project has been further delayed. The project is now supposed to start on January 23rd.

Scam: Be careful about pop-ups that show up on your computer. Recently it's been reported that pop-ups are showing up that look like they are from banks offering free credit checks and asking for personal information. These offers are scams. Do not provide personal information over the internet unless you are sure who you are dealing with.

Board of Directors Information Packets Now Available Online: Here's another reminder about an excellent new way for our members to know about the Association's business matter. Prior to every meeting of the Board, including Study Sessions, administrative staff prepares a packet of information pertaining to the issues to be considered during the meeting and makes it available to the Directors.  The packet is also available in the library.  At its December meeting the Board acted on a recommendation from the Communications Committee and voted unanimously to make packets available online so as to provide another resource for residents to receive information about issues before the Board.  If you want to understand what your Board is doing and why, then looking at the documents in the packet is an important first step, regardless of whether you choose to attend Board meetings.

To access the packets go to the SCOV website (www.scovaz.com), click on Association, Board Meetings, and then 2013-2014 Board Packet. Packets will be available approximately 3-5 business days before each meeting.  An email containing a link to the current packet will be sent when it is available, just as is now done when Board agendas and minutes become available.

Renters: Are you currently renting here at SCOV? You are invited to attend our Sun City Oro Valley Renter's Mixer! Learn more about SCOV, including the many amenities and activities available to you. Meet other residents. Ambassadors will be available to answer your questions. Appetizers will be provided. RSVP HERE or on our webpage (www.scovaz.com), go to News & Info, click on Events and then click on the Renter's Mixer link. Please contact Kat Peabody at 520-917-8068 for any questions. We look forward to seeing you there.

Landlords: Do you rent out your home? Please be advised of the following:

  1. Before we can issue any renter(s) cards, we MUST have your membership cards on file AND your HOA dues must be up to date.
  2. There is a new form that must be completed by you and returned by your renter(s) along with a copy of the lease when they come in to receive their renter's cards. Please find this form here or on the website (www.scovaz.com). Go to Association, Governing Documents and click on Renter/Delegated Form.
  3. The issuance fee of a renter card is $50 per person and that is good for the length of the lease.

Any questions? Please contact the Administration office at 520-825-3711.
