VOTE for The Views Golf Club and Café at Sun City: The Explorer is running its "Best of the Northwest" again this year. Last year some of our local competitors won this contest which we don't want to happen again. So, please log on to www.explorernews.com/vote. Near the top right, click on register and register to vote. Then you'll see a list of categories on the left side of the page. Click on "Food and Drink", then click "Best Breakfast" and write in a vote for the "Café at Sun City". After voting for the Café, click on "Retirement Living" then click on "Best Active Living Community" and write in "Sun City Oro Valley". Last, click on "Sports and Recreation" then "Best golf course" and then write in "The Views Golf Course". Even if you're a little hesitant in voting for the Café, Community and/or Golf Club, please consider that casting votes and winning this contest is fantastic publicity for our facilities and community, which results in additional revenue, more potential home buyers and lower fees for our residents. Again, PLEASE VOTE FOR THE CAFÉ AT SUN CITY, SUN CITY ORO VALLEY AND THE VIEWS GOLF CLUB.

Fitness Center Update: There is a tremendous amount of work going on with all phases of the project in an effort to secure a certificate of occupancy on December 31st. I have to admit that even though the project has come a long, long way, it seems that there is an awful lot of little detail work to complete before the fitness center can be considered complete and ready for the Town to issue a certificate of occupancy. Some of the work that was completed recently and/or is planned for the next few days is installation of the multipurpose room flooring, carpet installation, completion of the tile installation, spa tile installation, interior and exterior painting, HVAC duct installation, mill work installation, show stall installation, and much more. In addition to the construction work, plans are in place to have a grand opening on January 9th. Of course, this is still tentative but is looking more and more certain. To give you a little idea of the progress, here's a photo that will give you a good idea of how the locker room tile looks. 

Rancho Vistoso Blvd. landscaping: There seems to be continual challenges with this project. The latest possible delay may be caused by the need to have a lane closure for the plant installation and a lane closure for the project on the corner of Rancho Vistoso Blvd. and Sun City Blvd. I have been informed that both closures can't take place at the same time. Therefore, depending on which project is given permission by the Town to close a lane will determine which project will proceed first.

Library Book Sale: The SCOV Library is having their annual holiday book and media sale. Books, DVDs and audiobooks are on sale at bargain prices. Come and see our great selection. All proceeds go toward purchase of new books and movies.

Scams: You've probably heard about the scam where a young person calls a homeowner announcing that he/she is the granddaughter or grandson in need of financial assistance. Well, that scam has started up again in the Sun City area. So, be very careful if you get a call like this and don't give any personal information or of course money.

Gift Shop Information:

GIFT SHOP Holiday Season Extended Hours:    The Gift Shop will be open Saturday, December 21, 9 AM-4 PM.

GIFT SHOP MONDAY MADNESS will be on Monday, December 23, 9 AM-12:30PM.

Golf Cart Parade: Saturday at noon starts our holiday golf cart parade. Judging will be at 11:30 at the Posse Shack. Parade starts at noon. Be sure to be along the parade route to see the carts and get in the holiday spirit bring your holiday guests. The OV police will lead the way. Parade route is as follows:

Leave the parking lot at the Silverton driveway, turning left and then immediately right onto Rancho Vistoso Blvd. Rancho Vistoso Blvd to Sun City Blvd and turn left onto Biltmore to the end and then turn right on to Royal Oak. Turn right onto Buckingham and go back to Rancho Vistoso Blvd and cross onto Sun City Blvd to Lost Arrow.

Turn right onto Lost Arrow and take that to Del Webb Blvd. Stay on Del Webb to Carondero and turn left. That becomes Lobelia. Turn right onto Bighorn to Del Webb and turn left to Rancho Vistoso Blvd and turn right back to the Posse shack.

AFC Pool Information Line: During the construction of the fitness center, it will be necessary to close the pool from time-to-time. To assist you with knowing when these closures will take place, an information line has been put into place. If you'll call 917-8088 before you go to the pool, you'll receive a message letting you know if the pool is open or closed.
