Questions, comments, etc. regarding This Week's SCOV Report: If you have a question, comment or other response that you like to make regarding an item in this report, you may reply to this message. Depending on the nature of your response (comment, question, etc.), I will acknowledge your reply, answer your questions or take other appropriate action(s) in as timely a manner as possible.

AFC Pool Information Line: During the construction of the fitness center, it will be necessary to close the pool from time-to-time. To assist you with knowing when these closures will take place, an information line has been put into place. If you'll call 917-8088 before you go to the pool, you'll receive a message letting you know if the pool is open or closed.

Happy Hour: The Café's first 5 to 7 p.m. Happy Hour was held on Monday, November 11th. This event was unexpectedly well attended to the degree that it was difficult to provide the level of service that is expected. As a result of this overwhelming response, the next Happy Hour, which will take place Friday, December 6th from 4 - 7 PM, will be much better staffed and a few other adjustments with food and beverages will be made to fulfill some of the requests submitted by those who attended the event on November 11th.

Reduce Bad Stress Event: Too much stress is bad for you. Let three experts teach you how to "Reduce the Bad Stress" today Friday, November 22nd at 1:00 PM in the auditorium.   Dr. Jim Nicolai, formerly Medical Director at Miraval Resort and a medical partner of Dr. Andrew Weil, will show you the technique of Walking Meditation, about which he has written a book; Joe Pinella, Qi Gong instructor will let you try some Qi Gong exercises; and Maria Mendola, Yoga therapist and instructor, will let you try Yoga which reduces stress. Wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to put the bad stress behind you. There is no charge for this Active Health Committee event but you will want to take a raffle ticket at the door as each of the three presenters will be donating a prize.

The Posse needs your help: The Posse is always looking for volunteers to join our squads and participate in our Neighborhood Patrols.  Now, we are also looking to fill three positions on the Posse Board by or before the end of the year.  They are the Posse Committee Chairperson, a Squad Leader and the Committee Secretary.  The new Posse Committee Chairperson will replace the retiring Posse Chair, Del Balston.  The open Squad Leader position is created by the retirement of Squad E Co-Leader, Dee Bethke.  The opening in the Secretary position is created by the former Secretary, Pat Monson, giving up that position to focus more time on her Squad A Co-Leader tasks.  Any SCOV resident who is interested in any of these important positions should contact John Njaa at 825-5486 or 619-517-0006.

SCOV Sock Drive for Tucson's Homeless Veterans:  It begins at our Veterans Day event.  Boxes will be at the Veterans Day program and in the Activity Center and Welcome Center for new white socks to be dropped off until December 15th.  If anyone wants to contribute money for socks to be bought at a big discount they can call Sandy and Hal Jasper at 818-1785. Look for the article about SCOV residents giving to the Homeless Veteran Sock Drive in this Wednesday's Explorer.  Thanks to resident and drive leader, Sandy Jasper, for her enthusiasm and vision for this project.

Saturday, December 21 - Holiday Golf Cart Parade:  A registration form is in the November Tipster. Prizes: 1st place $100 2nd place $75 and 3rd place $50. Join in the fun by being in the parade or come out to watch it. Also if you don't have a golf cart why not have a cart represent a club. The deadline to turn in your form is December 2 at 4pm. Judging will be done by nonresidents. If you don't have a registration form, they are available at the Welcome Center. Please drop off completed registration forms at the Welcome Center.

Have a Fundraiser: Is your club or committee holding a charitable drive or fundraiser this holiday season?  Would you like the community to know about it? In an effort to help you help others this holiday season, we would like to send out an email to the community announcing your charitable drive or fundraiser. Simply send an email to kPeabody@suncityorovalley.com in the administration office by MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25 and let her know what, where, when and a contact for your drive or fundraiser. Your information will be placed in the announcement. Please contact 917-8068 with any questions.

Sun City Singers, your chance to donate food for the Food Pantry: Tuesday, December 3 and Friday, December 6, the Sun City Singers will have boxes for food donations to benefit the Food Pantry.  The need for food has raised sharply as food stamp benefits decrease and more families face economic difficulties.  If you are attending one of these popular Holiday concerts, bring non-perishable food items to help those who do not have enough to eat during this holiday season.

Fitness Center Project: The project continues to move along very well. There are plenty of decisions to make every week yet nothing that is of great significance during this past week. Don't forget that there's lots of information on the website about the project including minutes of the weekly meetings and soon to be dozens of photos. Here's the link
http://www.suncityorovalley.com/association/committees/fitness_center.html.

Thinking of photos, here are a couple of shots. One photo is of part of the lobby and the hall which has been dry walled. The other is the exterior looking toward the northwest.
