Audio Visual Equipment installation in Native American Rooms: Reminder that the AV equipment will be installed in the Native American Rooms the week of November 4-8. Installation of this equipment will require that the Navajo and Hohokam rooms will be closed during this time and the Hopi will be close, at least, during part of this time.

Questions, comments, etc. regarding This Week's SCOV Report: If you have a question, comment or other response that you like to make regarding an item in this report, you may reply to this message. Depending on the nature of your response (comment, question, etc.), I will acknowledge your reply, answer your questions or take other appropriate action(s) in as timely a manner as possible.

AFC Pool Information Line: During the construction of the fitness center, it will be necessary to close the pool from time-to-time. To assist you with knowing when these closures will take place, an information line has been put into place. If you'll call 917-8088 before you go to the pool, you'll receive a message letting you know if the pool is open or closed.

Fitness Center Project:As reported last week, work is going on in all areas of the project. One of the critical areas that needed to be completed on time is pouring the concrete floor in the new cardio/strength area. This task had to be completed by Monday, November 4th so that all other work that must be performed in that area can be completed on time. Fortunately, the concrete will be poured either on Friday, November 1st or on Monday. While we're on the subject of the cardio/strength area, here's a photo from the interior of that space displaying the view that members and guests will have when working out.

Arts and Crafts Fair: Here's a quick reminder that the Arts and Crafts Fair will take place tomorrow, Saturday November 2nd from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Activity Center.

Happy Hour: Please join us for a fun Happy Hour on Monday, November 11th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Café. Here's an opportunity to have drinks, appetizers and a good time with your friends and neighbors.

Temporary closing of mini-gym: Reminder that in preparation for the installation of the AV System, the temporary gym in the Hopi room will be closed all day Sunday.  The following week, during installation, it will be closed intermittently to allow for the installation as needed.

Food Drive: It's a WIN, WIN, WIN. Yes, I'm talking about the gifts to the SCOV Vistoso Cyclists' Food Drive. If you've contributed - a big thank you. If you've put it off, let me share with you the win, win, win part. An AZ resident can take state income tax credit for every dollar contributed to the Food Drive (up to $200 per individual, $400 per couple). The math is fantastic. For example, your $200 donation to the Food Drive is matched by the SCV Community Foundation and buys $400 worth of food. When filing your 2013 state income tax next spring (either the long or short form), report your $200 donation on Form 321. That becomes a $200 tax credit, which reduces your income tax by: $200! Your donation really didn't cost you a thing! Goal is 20,000 pounds; the total is currently at 8,671. We've extended the drive until Nov 8. Only ten days to go! Please make your check out to "ICS" (Interfaith Community Services) with "food drive" on the memo line. Mail to: Dave Nelson, 1900 E. Somnolent Way, OV 85755. Questions? Call Dave at 825-8641.

Oro Valley Farmers Market: Here's a quick reminder that the Farmers Market has moved to Steam Pump Ranch at 10901 N. Oracle Road. According to what I've heard, there are a number of new vendors at the Market since the locations has changed. Give it a try sometime on a Saturday morning for fun and to support Shop Oro Valley.

A Day in the Life of our Oro Valley Mayor (Satish Hiremath) and Town Manager (Greg Caton): will be presented on Wednesday, November 13th, 6 PM-7:30 PM in the Mountain Vista Activity Center, Navajo Room.  Mayor Hiremath will share parts of his State of the Town address from September 25th, and Manager Caton will explain Oro Valley's income stream.  There will be time for you to ask questions.  This is sponsored by the SCOV Government Affairs Committee to provide an opportunity for you to meet your elected and appointed Town officials.
