Parking Lot Sealing: My apologies to anyone who was inconvenienced by the sealing that took place today and yesterday and for the lack of communication. Unfortunately there was a breakdown in communication between staff and I was not aware that the sealing was going to take place this week. Again, I apologize and will certainly make every effort to communicate more effectively about projects of this nature in the future.

Fitness Center Project: There has been a tremendous amount of activity taking place at the fitness center with work going on in every area of the project. In addition to the construction that is taking place on site, a change has been made with the W.E. O'Neil staff. Specifically the superintendent has been replaced with a long-time, very experienced superintendent and the task force is pleased that W.E. O'Neil has placed such a highly experienced and professional superintendent on this site. Here's a photo to give you some idea of the progress that is taking place in the new cardio-strength area.

The answer and solution to last week's question: FOOD and FOOD DRIVE.  A big thank you for the generosity you showed last October.  The results were wonderful and exceeded the goal of the Sun City Oro Valley Vistoso Cyclists.  This year, the demand for food has risen again.  Seniors, families, and children continue to seek help from the Food Bank at Interfaith Community Services. Our goal for 2013 is to reach 20,000 pounds. Again this year, the Sun City Vistoso Community Foundation is providing a gift match grant.  For every dollar donated, the Foundation will match that dollar.  What a delightful way to double your Food Bank gift!  Won't you consider joining me by sending a check made out to "ICS" with "food drive" in the memo line to Dave Nelson 1900 Somnolent Way, Oro Valley, AZ 85755 between now and Oct 31.  Questions? Call 825-8641

Defibrillator: Are you aware that there are defibrillators in every building. With one exception that are by the restrooms. The exception is in the Pro Shop/Café where the defibrillator is near the door between the Pro Shop and Café.

Mini Gym: Due to the setting up of the arts and crafts fair the mini gym in the Activity Center will close at 6pm on Friday November 1st. The gym will open at its usual time, 8:30am on Saturday November 2nd.

Audio Visual Equipment installation in Native American Rooms: The AV equipment will be installed in the Native American Rooms the week of November 4-8. Installation of this equipment will require that the Navajo and Hohokam rooms will be closed during this time and the Hopi will be close, at least, during part of this time.

Desert Oasis Courts: The contractor that installed the Desert Oasis courts will be performing extensive warranty work on the courts in December. Starting December 2nd for at least 12 days the courts will be closed to complete this work. I apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause anyone.

Town of Oro Valley General Plan Amendment: The Town wants input from you regarding the General Plan. Below is a message from the Town asking for your thoughts and providing direction as to how to provide input.

The Town of Oro Valley is requesting that you log onto YourVoiceOV.com where you can tell the Town what is important to you by filling out a quick and easy online community survey. As a BONUS, participants can earn rewards such as Aquatic Center annual passes, Tucson Symphony Orchestra tickets and seats at next year's State of the Town Address!

At this year's annual State of the Town Address on September 26, 2013, Mayor Satish Hiremath announced the launch of "Your Voice, Our Future," a process designed to garner community input to guide critical decisions about the Town of Oro Valley's future. Planning for parks and recreational facilities, land use, public safety, conservation of natural resources, economic opportunities, and moving people and goods safely and efficiently are all areas of discussion that the Town needs to receive input on from its residents, business owners, and stakeholders in order to ensure the high quality of life that Oro Valley residents deserve.

Also, please let us know if we can meet with your neighborhood or HOA by emailing us at YourVocieOV@orovalleyaz.gov. In order to stay up-to-date or view more information about this process, please visit www.orovalleyaz.gov/generalplan/yourvoiceov.

Association's Annual Audit: The annual audit was recently completed and accepted by the Board. I am pleased to state that the audit was very clean and indicated that there are no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies in the internal controls of the Association's financial operations.

Bike Path: The bike/pedestrian path behind Steam Pump Ranch is scheduled to be connected to the existing path in the area by March 2014. This project will complete a path that extends throughout the Oro Valley/Tucson area.

Oro Valley Hospital Senior Behavioral Health Facility: The Hospital recently opened a 17 bed acute inpatient Senior Behavioral Health program. This facility is exclusively for individuals who are 65 year of age or better. The goal of the operation is to help individuals address psychosocial issues encountered as individuals age and give those individuals back their choices. The facility will deal with issues such as depression, anxiety, alcohol use, drug use, disordered thinking, isolation and more. For more information call 520-901-3500.

Why the Board Needs Me and What's Involved Round Table Discussion: The Nominating Committee will be hosting a round table discussion "Why the Board Needs Me and What's Involved" to talk about the role of a board member.  All are invited to attend.  This event will be Friday, November 1, 1 PM, Welcome Center Conference Room 1.  Please RSVP for the round table discussion. Click Here to sign up. Thank you for considering serving in the Association's community leadership.

AFC Pool Information Line: During the construction of the fitness center, it will be necessary to close the pool from time-to-time. To assist you with knowing when these closures will take place, an information line has been put into place. If you'll call 917-8088 before you go to the pool, you'll receive a message letting you know if the pool is open or closed.

Copper Health Oro Valley: The new name of the facility on the corner of Rancho Vistoso Blvd. and Sun City Blvd. is Copper Health Oro Valley. I thought you would be interested in their first press release which is below:
