AFC Pool Information Line: During the construction of the fitness center, it will be necessary to close the pool from time-to-time. To assist you with knowing when these closures will take place, an information line has been put into place. If you'll call 917-8088 before you go to the pool, you'll receive a message letting you know if the pool is open or closed.

Questions, comments, etc. regarding This Week's SCOV Report: If you have a question, comment or other response that you like to make regarding an item in this report, you may reply to this message. Depending on the nature of your response (comment, question, etc.), I will acknowledge your reply, answer your questions or take other appropriate action(s) in as timely a manner as possible.

Villa Fatima: It's official according to Brian Martinez, Marketing/Business Development Director for Copper Sands, Inc. that the sale is complete and there is a new majority owner of the property on the corner of Sun City Blvd. and Rancho Vistoso Blvd. The message received indicated that construction will soon begin and the goal is to open the facility during the first quarter of 2014. That goal seems a bit ambitious but the important thing is that the project will proceed.

Make a Difference Day Project: Many in our Community have expressed a desire to see the finished afghans that are a result of the Sun City Oro Valley and Casa Amigas sponsored Make a Difference Day project. They will be on display in the Sewing Room at the Artisan Center on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 1:00 to 3:00. We wish to thank everyone that participated and made it a success.

Curb addresses: Sun City Oro Valley is not requiring homeowners to paint their address numbers on the curbs. The vendor who is passing out the flyer is not affiliated with the Sun City Oro Valley.

Run for the Fallen: Due to some misinformation from ADOT regarding construction along Oracle Road, the run route has been shifted and will go from north of Ina Road on Oracle Road and will stay on Oracle Road all the way up through Catalina and past Saddlebrooke with markers every mile. ALL of the hero markers located north of Ina Road are now directly on Oracle Road, each a mile apart (NOT on Rancho Vistoso Blvd as previously planned). On Thursday, please check the website, www.azrunforthefallen.org, for the most recent marker times and locations.

Fitness Center Project: According to W.E. O'Neil, the project is on time and according to the numbers it is on budget. Considerable progress has been made in all areas of the building including the spa, locker rooms, multipurpose rooms and cardio/strength areas. The following photo will give you an idea of the recent progress in the multipurpose rooms.

Walking your dog: Here's another friendly reminder to keep your dog on a leash when walking around the community. Also, please make every effort to walk your dog close to common areas, parks and/or street right-of-way areas so they are less likely to relieve themselves on residential lots and wherever your dog may do his/her business please pick up after your dog.

The Board invites you:
The Board of Directors wants to invite you to each and every Study Session and Board Meeting. Your thoughts and input are important and one of the best ways to be heard is by attending these monthly meetings. In addition, to this invitation the Board would like you to stop by the meetings 15 minutes before the meetings begin so you and the Board Members can have an opportunity for a casual conversation. This pre-meeting period will give you an opportunity to have one-on-one time with Board Members so you can either talk about light social issues or an Association related issue that may be very important to you. The October Board Meeting will be held on the 22nd in the Welcome Center Conference Room 3 at 9 a.m. so please stop by a little early.

AFC Pool Covering: On November 1st the AFC pool will be covered at night.  It takes two monitors to cover this large pool. The Activity Center monitor always helped the AFC monitor with this duty. Since there is no monitor at the AFC, during construction, a monitor from either the Desert Oasis or the Catalina Vista will come to the pool area weekdays between 8pm and 9pm to help cover the pool. On Sunday the pool will be covered between 4:30pm and 5:30pm. Once the AFC is complete we will go back to the usual system. Every effort was made all summer to keep the AFC pool open. We ask that you are patient during these few months in covering the pool a bit earlier at times. There will always be some inconvenience when a large project is underway. I hope you will cooperate. Pam Sarpalius, Programs and Facilities Director
